Not quite off season stupid thread time, but just curious as to your opinion.

Would Mizzou still have been selected?

If not, what realistic team would have been selected in their place? (Realistically I wouldn't think it could have been an ACC team, Texas or Oklahoma - maybe West Virginia? East Carolina? Other Big 12 team?)

Would the SEC chosen to be a 13 team conference?

Would the SEC have just decided to say no to A&M also due to lack of a good fit 14th team?

No, we would have never considered Tech.

Missouri was a terrible choice no matter what was going on at the moment or any other moment.

I wouldn't have wanted that anyway. But good shot.

I know this is going to surprise you, but we weren’t added to make your coonass comfortable with it.

Probably would have put out feelers to see if there was any interest in Georgia Tech coming back.

Omg- are we going to be doing this shite on Mizzou being in the conference all off-season yet AGAIN?

Get some new material, people.

What if Georgia Tech was relevant?

It is an off season thread, but a good and interesting one.
I can't figure out how they make a lot of decisions, but it would seem as if television footprint had a lot to do with it, so I would say, yes, they would still be in the league. We give them a lot of crap, but I think they are a solid team and program.

If they were not chosen, then maybe Virginia Tech?
I don't think Texas or Oklahoma would ever be chosen, though.

No. They would want to keep the division equal.

This is possible...if they did that, I would have liked it if we had invited NC and Duke. While I don't think that would happen, I think it would help academically and with basketball.

Interesting topic!

I actually wouldn't mind if Tech came back. I don't think Alabama would have allowed that, though. Some situations die hard.

I would agree, but we don't have a vote. The Administrations might not forget so easily.

Missouri was/is a border state like KY. They were on both sides of the Civil War so I think they are still deserving to be in.

Had the protest happened in 2011 then I doubt they get in. In that case, probably Va Tech or UVA, most likely Tech would have been the invitee.

This is how we fix the SEC:

We get rid of the Mississippi schools, Arkansas, and Missouri. We add North Carolina, Duke, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Why? Demographics and population shifts. Adding these schools will ensure that we make a lot of money for decades to come.

After we lock down things from a TV set/demographics perspective, we can make a pure football move and add Oklahoma and Okie St. (or two other teams that are less nauseating).

Then we break the conference into pods of 4, kind of like how the NFC and AFC do it.

SEC EAST:
Georgia
Florida
South Carolina
Kentucky

SEC North:
North Carolina
Duke
Virginia
Virginia Tech

SEC Central:
Alabama
Auburn
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

SEC West:
LSU
Texas A&M
Oklahoma
Okie State

We play a ninth conference game and two permanent non-pod teams per year. It would be a 3-2-4 format. Three pod opponents, two permanent non-pod opponents, and four rotating teams. The four rotating teams would ensure that every school plays every other school at least once in a four year cycle. For example, Georgia would play Florida, South Carolina, and Kentucky every year (pod opponents) and would have permanent non-pod matchups with Auburn and Tennessee.

The winner of each pod at the end of the year would play in an SEC semifinal game. To do that, we would have to play one less regular season game (11 regular season games). Semifinal games would be in rotating locations. SEC East and SEC North would play their semifinal games in Charlotte, Washington DC, and Nashville. SEC Central and SEC West pods would play their semifinal games in Dallas, Houston, and New Orleans. The winner of the semifinal games would go on to play the SEC Championship game in Atlanta.

The winner of the SEC Championship game would get an automatic bid into the college football playoff as a top four seed. We would expand the college football playoff to have six teams, with the top two seeds getting byes. The top four seeds would be the champions of the four 16 team super conferences, and the 5 and 6 seeds would be at large bids.

Nice troll, but since you are a dumbass and don't understand what drove expansion and realignment seven years ago...

Texas A&M was accepted as a 13th member, with or without another school coming. WVU tried to get into both the SEC and ACC before going to the XII. There are more TV sets in the suburbs of Houston than there are the entire state of WV. Tell me again why WVU fits?

GT isn't coming back..ever. No school will ever be added inside the footprint of the league, because it doesn't add any more money to the payout. This means that FSU, Clemson, Louisville, Texas, and Miami (or even OU) are never coming also.

VT would have been a better fit, as would any NC school. But they chose not to leave the ACC. This is why Missouri works.

I know you are galactically stupid and don't understand any of the dynamics of expansion. But Missouri is here for a reason. Deal with it.

Explain why OU would never be added.
