No it wasn't. Herman didn't want to hear the Horns "pitch". He wanted the Texas job. It's his dream job.

Fuentes and Fedora were the only other options. Foley could have hired Fedora when he hired McElwain but he didn't. Foley knew Fedora from his time at UF and didn't even give him a call.

Some thought of PJ Fleck but it's big jump from his little job in Michigan to the SEC and LSU.

As to the OP, you have no idea what O can accomplish. As great as Saban is he still needed to find an OC to run his offense. Saban is winning because he has better players from top to bottom on his roster. No one out recruits him.
O's tenure at Ole Miss is ancient history. Plainly he has changed. He took over programs that were dysfunctional at midseason and showed that he has improved. Those teams were going nowhere and he righted the ship in both cases.
Really it matters not what you think. It will play out on the field. We'll see if O has the goods.

Honestly we may have the best OC and DC in the SEC and maybe O can rely enough on them to win big. We have to get the right QB first though and Etling isn't NC material.
