The truth is state lines don't really matter for recruits. For example, the best program in the country that depends on Texas talent isn't in Texas- it's in Oklahoma.

The real benefit to LSU isn't that they dominate their state, but that there is a landmass protecting their pool of state talent from the Crimson Tide (for the most part).

Not sure I agree with this. LSU on the TV in households across Louisiana and that's what kids here grow up with. There is typically a strong sense of state pride and support for LSU because there generally is no split allegiance. Yes, there are fans of ULL and other smaller schools who also support LSU because there really isn't a conflict there. If Tulane had stayed in the SEC, then you'd see a different dynamic.

That's one of the biggest run-on sentences I've ever seen.

I think Bama fans and Carter think LSU wanted Carter a lot more than they actually did.

Im not sure Shyheim realizes we usually get some of the top DBs in the country every year. Losing Shyheim Carter, a guy who was vocal about putting down LSU even when he was on campus, certainly didnt hurt the LSU coaches feeling when we go to Florida and Texas and cherry pick some of the best there who were ranked just as high or better.
