Vols have been so awesome about this. He certainly left a huge impact in the fans there and in a good way.

I am pleased with what I've seen from Tyndall, that said anyone other than UK or UF fans who say they wouldn't trade places with Auburn is lying.
Pearl is absolutely a shitty human being though. It will be interesting to see if that catches up to him in Auburn like it did in Knoxville.

He's a true VFL even today but he'll give his all to AU and I have no doubt he'll love y'all too. He's just the kinda guy who can do that - loves people and embraces them and it shines through. You will be happy with him win or lose. For all his faults, he loves the college environment and people. Some think no one could be that way but he is.
Most of us UT fans will always be fans of Pearl and love him for all that.

I have never said Pearl sucked. I would have traded Cuonzo for him in a second and would trade Tyndall for him as well.
A lot of fans, you included, buy his act hook, line and sinker though. Ask Jana Shay how genuine he is. Ask his wife the same question. Ask Daniel West. Ask Deon Thomas.

Dude you don't even like Summitt and say you're 'disgusted' by the Lady Vols. 1. Summitt is about as damn unimpeachable character wise and coaching wise as it gets yet no respect and an open disdain for a person and program any Vol should proud of 2. it's fine not to like a sport but to be disgusted and hate them? That's insane and wayyyyyy over the top.
And yes, your Pearl bashing and dislike of all UT coaches constitutes precisely what I meant when I said you think they all 'suck' which I used broadly. It's like you can't be pleased no matter what. No one is good enough for you. And to assume liking Pearl is falling for his "act" is the height of arrogance. I taught at UT when he was there, I even taught some of his players (some were good, some weren't). I have my opinions of him based on a great deal that a lot of folks don't know and 99 percent of it had frick all to do with winning.
Did he cheat, yeahhhh. Cheated on his wife too. Like most, he's imperfect. I don't doubt he's lied to players too even broken other rules. He's fricking human and much of the basketball stuff goes with the territory, especially given that it doesn't get any dirtier than NCAA basketball (everyone from coaches to players is a playa). Pearl was hardly the worst.
IOW, take the stick out of your arse, stop judging fans as though you know better, and chill out. Doing that is not worship by any measure and I promise you, you'll be happier and enjoy UT sports a lot more.

I dealt with Pearl on a personal level a fair amount while he was in Knoxville, even after he was fired. As I said, success changed him big time. He is not a good person at all. Would I take him back as Tennessee's coach tomorrow? Absolutely. He does a great job promoting the program and obviously wins at a high level. Both those things are great.
I'm sure you do get to see a lot that goes on behind the scenes. I see and hear a fair amount as well. The only thing I really care about is winning and Tennessee's coaches have been pretty bad at that recently.

Volfan30, I'm reacting based on the fact that no one appears to please you. When you say they're good coaches they're lousy humans or they're good humans who you think suck at coaching and if they're good humans and a good coach, well there's still something awful about them. It's always negative and I say that as freaking pessimist in general who can be critical of pretty much anything and anyone when I'm in the mood.
I point out your words about the LV's because you haven't said, until just now that you don't care about women's basketball. You've used words like "despise" and "disgusted." That's the kinda of language that's unwarranted and speaks to a rather passionate hate whether you realize it or not or mean it not. And yeah that level of disgust and despising is hard to place with 'no problem with Summitt.' She's proven time and time again even to those who don't give a damn about the program that she's someone worthy of respect not just having 'no problem with.'
You're great at analyzing the game of men's basketball. You're great in the recruiting thread but gotdamn outside of that you come across as the fan equivalent of an "the end is near/all is terrible especially humans" type "holy roller" outside those subjects far more than you realize.
I just think you need to chill/relax about human nature, even flawed human nature and enjoy the ride more (it will make you happier, especially with sports/coaches). Believe it or not I hate arguing with brothers and/or sister vols but I swear a more lighthearted approach and relaxed attitude would do you good as a fan.
Anyways, I don't/won't carry any hard feelings and I DO want to make that clear, though I know I've been harsher than I usually am - mainly because I know you're not the type to just ignore critical posts and will engage conversation. I take things as they come online, often on a daily basis. Like I said I think you have a lot to add and enjoy a lot of your posts in the areas I mentioned but sometimes outside those areas it's too much - over the top.
