No, it doesn't but it is a hell of a lot easier to influence 12 people behind closed doors than 100 scattered all across the nation.

I'd say people like Condi Rice and Doctor Tom are far more interested in their reputation than to be "bribed" if that's what you suggesting, and they have just as good a chance of getting it right as at least a dozen or so of the writers. So it's still easily a push.

This committee was the worst possible idea they could have came up with. So, naturally, it's what we have.

Folks pushed and wanted a playoff so bad that they never gave a thought that things could actually be worse by removing the BSC formula entirely. Now we have a committee full of humans deciding the fate of the playoff.

To me the head to head matters little when you factor in common opponents where TCU has the edge.

This is up there for one of the dumbest things ever written on this board.

If the SEC gets left out of the play-offs, after its history the last decade and the dominance of the West this year, then the play-offs are a joke. No need to talk about if Bama wins, because if they do then their in. If Mizzou wins the SEC still should get a rep. Think Indiana disqualifies Mizzou, then fine put in Alabama or Mississippi St, but if not one SEC team gets in then the committee is punishing the West for being too deep. One of the reasons the East looks weak is because of its comparison to the West. You compare the East to most other divisions in college football, and factor in each team in the East had to play the West twice, and it compares very favorably with most of the other divisions. I do not believe there is a team outside of the SEC that could have played Arkansas' schedule and could have come out of it with less the two losses (and I am probably being generous).

People want to forget that Baylor lost to West Virginia 41-27.

The committee is a joke. We get people talking in circles to justify TCU ahead of Baylor (despite, as noted, Baylor beat TCU head-to-head). We get more talking in circles to justify dropping Fla St to the edge of exclusion (despite the fact that they are the undefeated defending national champions).

We're back to pre-BCS, only worse: now it's not the polls that decide, it's about a dozen or so random people.

thought leaving the BCS in place and just taking the top 4 teams made the most sense. But then again, I was only using logic and common sense

I thought this, and then have a committee meet and validate it so no one complains that computers decided things.

If the committee decides to change something then come out and explain the exact reasoning why.

If Missouri wins the SEC they should make the field of 4. Despite the ugly losses.

I heard Mike and Mike lamenting the latest playoff poll and Mike Greenberg kept saying "We shouldn't let humans touch these things because they just screw it up", saying that non-humans would have Florida State #1.

If computers were picking the playoff FSU wouldn't even be in the Major Bowls.

Nobody on the committee trust Baylor's defense. I think even LSU could hang 40-50 on them and we suck.

Rankings based on computer models = flawed, based on humans voting = flawed regardless of who votes, and AQ = flawed..

you're basically arguing about which stinks more, tuna farts or broccoli farts, but enjoy!

Oh I know lets just make it the Power 5 conferences and let them play it out NFL style and have a playoff.

Oh wait then we're being big meanies to all the little schools.

Well, I'm sure the media will let us know which system works best.

Another thing is with subjectivity being so important teams have to run up scores and should not be criticized for it. Up 5 TDs with 3 minutes left? Keep trying to score.

The BCS used a computer program that was transparent, objective, and able to be understood by fans. The committee has no criteria other than how they feel at the moment.

Interestingly, the BCS computers had Alabama at #3 at the end of 2011. Their #2 team? Okie State.
