I agree. It's not in their nature.

We cleaned all that stuff up when we were ordered to improve his habitat (we went from 2k sqft to 15k sqft and spent millions so you can't say we didn't take it seriously).

LSU, like most schools with live mascots, treats their mascot VERY well. Years ago, PETA wanted hem to do away with the live Tiger, and then it was pointed out that the LSU Tiger lived 10-12 years longer than the average lifespan of a tiger in the wild.

Wiki is a wonderful, tool. BUT, I used to be a LSU fan, so I knew a good bit of this before.

Yeah Mike IV lived over 20 years which is extremely long for a tiger. This is even with him starting in a cage that was about 500 sqft. We gradually improved his habitat but go serious with the big new habitat that is as nice if not nicer than any zoo facility in the world for a tiger.

Awesome.

Didn't LSU used to shock him in front of the opposing team when they were walking out of the locker room?

No. They just parked his cage near the visiting team entrance. It was and has always been impossible to stick any object into the cage, because the inner cage screen is not accessible from the outside. There are two layers of bars and screens.

I vote that Bert be fed to Mike the Tiger. though, since Mike is not the TAMU mascot, I dont think he has a true taste for arse.

I love that man.
I wouldn't want to see Mike the Tiger eat a dog. That's wrong. But I would watch the shite of it if they threw a gator or a wild hog in the cage.

I heard that too. I think it is disgusting to keep a wild tiger in a cage like that.

Mike has escaped before

he was let out by an LSU student back in the early 70's. his habitat had a single cage instead of the current double and some dumb arse somehow jimmied the cage open. mike was found the next morning sleeping in a flower bed across the street by a student walking to class. of course the authorities had to tranquilize him and get him back in the cage. seems mike was much smarter that that dumb arse student.

Yeah.....I moved to Georgia and was LSU fan first and Georgia fan second. (I was actually born in Baton Rouge and we were all HUGE LSU fans)

Then I transfered back to Baton Rouge with my job. Even though I insisted I was a LSU fan first all the guys I worked with harrassed the daylights out of me every time Georgia would fall behind in the score fo a football game.....soooooooo.....I decided to flip. They aggravated me so much they ran me off. That was back in 1981 or so. I've been a Georgia fan ever since. My brother still loves LSU. Wears some stupid purple and gold lounge pants when he watches a game on TV.

you obviously don't know shite about tigers. I think you're disgusting and I know more about you than you know about saving the tiger. why don't you educate yourself before revealing your ignorance again.

So you """HEARD""" that ???? Did you even bother to READ the sentence I wrote just above this post?:

It was and has always been impossible to stick any object into the cage, because the inner cage screen is not accessible from the outside. There are two layers of bars and screens

As for your "disgust at keeping him in a cage" - you DO know that Mike is in this rolling "cage" for a grand total of 12 hours a year? - as opposed to 8,750 hours per year in his 30,000 square foot custom designed privately funded habitat ???? He also is cared for by the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine and has a staff of trainers as well.

Your misinformed fantasies are mind-numbingly jaw-dropping in their stupidity....

BTW Socrates, Mike VI is NOT a "wild tiger". He was donated by the owners of the Great Cats tiger habitat in Indiana. He was actually their house pet until he became too large for their home.

Once again, you fail.....

He should use Mike to help settle the QB competition.Winner starts, loser spends the night in the cage with Mike.Wearing a meat jacket.Holding a dull plastic knife.ESPN would be there.
