"Saban is right" - Les Miles

quote:

"I think it's something that should be given thought to," Miles told the Dothan Eagle. "What you would like to do is have time with each player, be able to describe his situation. And if you have 10 guys -- oh my gosh, in the middle of bowl practice -- it's impossible. So back [the deadline] up. Why make [the decision] in a hurry?"

Considering his recent performance in bowl games, this makes sense.

Considering the number of underclassmen who declared for the draft while the coaches were engaged in bowl game preparation, this makes sense.

Saban says it: "He's making excuses!", "It has no effect", "Dumbest thing ever!"

Miles says it: "You know he's right."

Wow. So now Miles is making excuses for Bama's loss to Ohio State.

Seriously though. It does makes sense.

That sounds entirely too coherent to have come out of Les Miles mouth. I'll need to see a video

Translation for you OP...

Hmmmm, Maybe I can use what Saban said to try and slow down the early NFL departures on my football team?

Attention media, Saban was right = I hope this will work for me so I don't keep losing so many players to the NFL and can have a better football team.

I love comments like this. People with brains don't need to support their idiot coaches on everything. It is an excuse. For both. It is stupid. For both. If moving the date helps the kids, I'm for it. No one has made a cogent argument of how it helps the kids.

Personally, I think if the receiving of the information earlier helps the kids--who take on all the financial risk, mind you--protect themselves in a bowl game, that's a good thing even if it means Saban loses in another big bowl game because REASONS.

Miles said this already.

He agrees with saban about the deadline. Miles never made an excuse for his team blowing arse like bama did in bowl games

We understand this, but don't expect bama fans to be able to string together consecutive thoughts. It's too much to ask.

Are you serious? It prevents them from making a poor decision due to being rushed for no good reason and also allows them focus on their team's bowl game.

Alabama is 5-3 in bowl games under Saban. Only the Sugar Bowl has been the issue.

Is that actually allowed?

Saban got exactly what he wanted from those comments, he plays the media better than anyone, now everyone is talking about it and weighing in and other conference media days are getting asked about it. It does make a lot of sense especially with NFL moving the draft back to early May.

Of course. Why would it not be?
