tOSU too high, but a pretty good list

Sagarin is a ranking of resume, not of "team strengths" or "performance" like S&P+ is.
Ohio State's resume is still very impressive.

Get rid of both Big 10 teams

It's interesting that he agrees with me that Michigan is the best team in the Big 10

He ranks all of it. Look out to the far right...

I have always thought LSU was the 2nd best team in the league, not AU

OK, but shouldn't we reconsider the Big 10 as the best conference when we factor in their bowl record? UM did get beat, so is that an impressive win for tOSU? Maybe, but not what it was. I am not arguing with you about Sagarin, but I am disagreeing a little with Sagarin. Some of Bama's wins are less impressive after the bowl season as well.

Still can't believe we shite the bed vs Florida.
God what an awful ordeal. Thing is, LSU easily could have won that game by 14-20.
Fml.

Sagarin's rankings are a computer model whose entire inputs are result related.
S&P+ is play based rankings that are opponent adjusted.
So Sagarin's model measures teams wins/losses based on how those teams performed, etc, etc. S&P+ ranks a team based on their efficiency after adjusting the opponents they performed the stats against, then puts the teams in order of how efficient they are.
So, it generally ranks teams close to the same, but sometimes a certain team could lose 4 really close games and have 8 blowout wins, and Sagarin might rank them lower than S&P. On the flip side, a team could "luck" into 2-3 wins and have a nice resume but S&P+ would say that the individual plays in each game show they aren't as good as their record.
Personally, I think S&P is clearly better for figuring out who WILL win a game, but I think Sagarin is better for deciding who should be ranked where, because all that matters is winning a game.

Ohio State beat Michigan and won at Oklahoma. They had a solid resume. Not as solid as it once looked, but still pretty good.

The blue is the old BCS formula

Right, is totally computer analysis of results and schedule based.
It's a measurement of a teams resume, not a measurement of how good they are, if that makes sense.

And if Auburn beats OU, like I believe they will. then how is that UM win? UM did thrash Colorado. I understand what s&p is, and i like how they use win and losses and go much deeper than I ever want to in that. They don't have all of the data, is my point. I have disagreed with computers before and was correct, but my win/loss record vs computers over the years would put me at the bottom of this list.

Then their resume will get worse and the next Sagarin ranking will probably show that.

Michigan went 10-3 and beat Colorado and Penn State. It's still a Top 10 team probably.
Like I said, I think bowls and things should be picked based off the computers because they measure what you have done, not "how good you are". But I'm ranking teams based purely on how good of teams they are or want to see how they match up, S&P+ is the ranking system to look at for sure.

Umm...
44 Appalachian State
45 Georgia
46 Memphis
47 Arkansas
48 Mississippi State
58 Mississippi
60 Vanderbilt
64 Kentucky
86 Missouri
84 South Carolina
That's App. State higher ranked higher than 8 SEC schools using this method. Pretty sure App. State would be beaten by several of those 8.
That said, any apologies y'all would like to issue will be accepted.
