Maybe we're stretching the point calling GT or KSU legitimate.
How about USC/2003?

That didn't work out too well for us. Hopefully we'll stick with Missouri State for awhile.

you hear analysts say that the biggest improvement happens between game 1 and game 2.
seems like a good reason to play a lower class team the first week.

You might want to consider Ga Tech legit since they won that game.

Both teams are playing their first game, if the both improve the second week, no difference.

Yes while I enjoy the anticipation of opening with a Clemson or VT it is nice to have some padding this year.
Don't know that my nerves could handle it if we were opening with a legitimate threat this year.

Does ECU Count?
Next year we open @ Vandy
Last year USM? (was supposed to be UNC)
09 @ NC State
08 vs NC State
06 @ Miss State (doesn't count)
05 vs UCF
04 @ Vandy

He said recent, spurriers title falls under that IMO. When people talk about recent titles, more often than not they are talking about the last 20 or so years.
But u are correct that they only have 2 BCS titles.

Good teams have lost games vs. non-legit opponents before.

I remember that 02 Boise State game. I had just started grad school in Fayetteville, coming from LA Tech where I had seen Boise play several times. I was convinced Boise was going to play a good game, they shite thier pants big time. The testicle (Nutt) laid it on them pretty good if I recall correctly.
I miss opening day in Fayetteville, eat some BBQ nachos for me!

Be fair. He asked for Legitimate D-1 opponents, not Ole Miss.

I would say KSU and GT were pretty legit...Those two are in AQ conferences.
