I don't know why everyone is dishing the Mom so much. According to the article she let Landon go live with his Dad after Katrina because that would be best for him. Now she sees her influence is diminished and a girl friend replacing her. She sounds like most Mom's to me. Props to Landon on going where he wants to go. I'm just surprised he passed up playing with a lot of his friends at LSU.

I've been a lifelong Gumper, but when my son wanted to go to Auburn because they had a better department for his field of study, the Gump/Barn rivalry never crossed my mind.

If she wants him at LSU because it's close to home then she is being selfish. If she is reading between the lines and seeing that his girlfriend and her mother are influencing him then she has a right to be concerned that he's going to Bama for the wrong reasons.

She was portrayed, at least initially as an immature crazed tiger fan that just wanted her baby to be a tiger or she wouldn't support it. I get the sense that this is more about her thinking Saban is a sewer rat and that the girlfriend is trying to gravy train her kid.

Sounds like the typical issue facing alot of AA families nowadays (same for rednecks). Family not supporting their own members who made the effort, sacrifice. I don't talk to most of my family. The further he gets away from her, the better.

If anyone is influencing him, let's hope they have a modicum of maturity. Doesn't look like his mom qualifies.

Really? I missed the part where she said she would support her son's decision because he thought he was choosing what was best for him.

Did you see her on tv? Most moms wouldn't act like that on one of the biggest nights of their son's life.

He's going to Alabama to play football, which is the same reason he would be going to LSU had he chosen them. Education is definitely important but the main pitch Saban has always made to blue chip recruits is that if you come play for him, and work hard, you'll go in the first round of the NFL draft.

If only all LSU fans could act like you CarlTech. Surely no one from LSU would sucker punch someone then run away in the dark.

Alot of drama in that family. Wonder if Collins can handle the distractions. Personally I think he wants out of Louisiana to get away from his Mom.

Most moms would go on TV and completely ruin their child's moment? She acted like a child that has a child. Nobody blames her for disliking the decision, but act like a parent.

Moronic statement. LC and mom have a good relationship that will survive this. Good for them.

1. That's sad- even if you have a good enough reason.

2. I'm not sure how any of us can be certain of that, based on his mother wanting him to stay close to home. Perhaps there are issues involving HIM that she knows and we do not.

Maybe but that is not the feeling you get when you see her actions. I agree that she might not like the influence of the girlfriend and as a parent that would be my concern. But you have to let your kid learn from their own mistakes.
