Last year in the season opener Stanford got mugged 16 - 6 by Northwestern in an early start up north in Evanston; 20 miles north of Chicago. Northwestern finished 10 - 2 but #23 Tennessee crushed them 45 - 6 in the Outback Bowl. Stanford finished 12 - 2 and spanked #5 Iowa 45 - 16. Clearly Stanford was much better than Northwestern. The early start far away from their California comfort zone way up north in a bland Big Ten environment flattened Stanfords motivation. They came out lethargic and listless because of the environment, time, and location.

LSU isn't a Big Ten kind of team that thrives on early day games in the midwest. Wisky has everything going their way in this one. I don't like LSU in this spot.

Same time zone and in many ways LSU is more like a Big 10 team than a Pac 12 team....they will be just fine.

2:30 on the internal clock versus 9 AM on the internal clock. You're reaching here.

I'm not reaching. My gut is telling me to bet Wisky because the gameday circumstances heavily favor them. I don't think a day game in the midwest against a perennial mediocre Big Ten team will give LSU the motivation needed to play up to their potential. Environments matter. Motivation matters. Both the environment and the location are all wrong for LSU. The Tigers are still the better team and will probably win but the circumstances favor Wisky far more than LSU and emotion matters in college football.

Listen to your gut all you want. Les has never lost a regular season game against a non-sec team since he arrived in Baton Rouge.

Yea LSU has never had to travel for an opening game before. Not used to this at all. I can't see LSU getting excited to play at Lambeau either. shite venue

I think getting to play in the historic confines of Lambeau Field will be all the motivation LSU will need.

Please tell me my sarcasm didn't go over your head. Yea LSU has traveled to ASU in the wake of Katrina and to Seattle to play Washington. We've gone to Dallas twice and Houston once and Atlanta another time. LSU has traveled for opening game more times than not under les

this has got the be the lamest pregame excuse for if you lose I've ever heard.

LSU plays offense like a big 10 team and defense like a sec team

They are gonna kill Wisconsin

Lsu is going to punish Wisconsin. They just don't have the athletes to match up and are really down this year. Many experts are predicting them to go 6-6. It will be close at half but i can promise lsu wins by 2-3 Tds in the end

LSU plays at 230 all the time numb nuts. It's fricking lambeau, the players are aware of their environment.

This will be a blow out.

To beat LSU you need to be able to stop the run and run the ball. I think Wisconsin will struggle at both.

agreed, Bama was able to pretty much run at will against them. LSU and LF will too. This game shouldn't be close because what LSU is built to stop the Wisky's in the world. I don't think Wisky will be able to stop LF.

Wisconsin players will likely play out of their mind in the game. Lambeau field to those kids is everything. I think they'll keep it close but LSU's talent pulls away late.

Wisconsin is a lot better football team and program than Appalachian state. Don't even compare butch jones debacle last night to this game

This isn't LSU vs Akron people. LSU was lucky to win last time
