How many more times does Kirby have to turn you guys down? You'd think you'd get tired of it by now.

It's happened once, in a very different situation

Yeah I mean if it's a huge letdown, no big deal. What's another one? We can handle it

I don't think we are anywhere close to ready to pony up that kind of cash for a coordinator.

I call BS... UGA has the funds. Yes, I do agree that we are known to be cheap, but if it's a program changing type hire, you bet your arse McGarity will pony up the cheddar.

Me and you both know that UGA damn sure HAS the money, but we also both know that UGA will not be spending it. I agree that maybe they'd spend it for a program changing hire, but I don't think Smart is that and I don't think ADGM views him that way either.

If they made him HCIW then you're damn skippy it's program changing. Also injects new life into this staff and he brings some of the dark lord's tricks and ideas.

Am I missing something? Isn't Richt only 53. Why would they give Smart a HCIW tag instead of just firing the guy if everyone hates him so much. If Richt succeeds with Kirby the brass at UGA will surely keep him, if he fails miserably with Kirby then won't most of the fans/brass not want Kirby to take over a squad he has helped to mismanage? This doesn't make sense to me.

Man. I'm so excited about the possibilities right now. But at the same time....knowing UGA - I feel like I will be disappointed.

This, plus it would mean that the three best Ga recruiters in the country would be on the UGA staff in Bobo, BMac, and Smart. Then we'd also have Lilly crushing the Carolinas and north FL. We also would have a chance to bring in Scott Cochran with Smart.

It would absolutely be program changing.

The idea is that Richt isn't going to coach too much longer and this would just define things. Being the UGA HC and dealing with out bitching has done a lot. Plus, for Richt, there are a lot of things outside of football.

Obviously this is all rumors but the idea is that Kirby would be here and would help build the program he would take over in the near future. UGA wouldn't waste their time with Smart unless they knew they could give him a serious offer. More money for a lateral move at this point isn't enough and I think everyone knows that.

A lot of people think Richt only wants to coach a few more years. If Smart ever wants the UGA HC job, this is probably by far his best chance.

Exactly and that's what the Smart haters are failing to realize. Back when we wanted him the first time I was anti-smart for the reason they are but with the way things are now it's different. He'd be given more responsibilities and the desire to build up his future program.

So it's a squeeze on Richt to make his decision to quit easier it seems. Smart move but still hinges on Richt getting edged out or him actually really wanting to quit and unless he's said that publicly then it is pure speculation.

He may not have as much choice in the matter. The AD and or RIcht processed Grantham (and the dude somehow got a raise instead of a do or die year). That said, as a fan, I think others will agree with me here, you can tell it's wearing Richt down. This year Richt had the emotional win over LSU where he broke down on camera and he's had a few outbursts (as much as Richt can have) during pressers like when he boomed Chuck Oliver. Richt may be cool with bringing in a stud like Kirby to help lock down our state in recruiting and bring all the benefits that his hire would bring and propel him possibly to a title before he leaves.

Many think anyway that if Richt had won a title recently or does recently that he'd retire afterward anyway.

But yea, this is all obviously speculation. Just reasoning behind why we are thinking this is possible. Obviously it's an uphill battle and a real sky high goal.

They aren't going to. McGarity has said before that he will not give that tag to anyone, ever.

Now, this is something I did not consider that actually would be HUGE. I know Smart and Cochran are great friends, but could we lure him too? That would be program changing.

I cannot allow myself to even consider that until it becomes a confirmed possibility.

It's possible at least

Not saying you're wrong but you got a link by chance? Maybe he meant that with current staff?
