What is he supposed to do kick him to the curb? What are the rules on him transferring to another SEC team? Is it still against the rules or did the change them? That is the narrative I am waiting to see. What if he wants to go to UF and can Kirby block that or try to?

Because Twitter and message boards aren't official transfer documents? I have no doubt he's looking, but he's still technically on the team, no? And could transfer after the bowl, for that matter.

Sure makes Kirby and UGA seem desperate. Like letting your ex-GF keep living with you after she dumps you.

The NCAA doesn't care what the coach wants anymore but I'm not sure if the SEC updated its rules to specifically clarify that coaches can still prohibit certain transfers.

I thought so too, but every mock draft has him as a first round pick. He may love UGA, but I would assume he’d love first round pick money even more.
Mocks this far out for big name QBs/big programs are typically way off.

It's almost like they're a popularity contest this far out.

I think the coach/school can still prohibit transfers. A big deal was made about Dabo giving one of his players a free and clear release to transfer to USC this year. That would not have been a big deal if he had no power to prevent it.

Which means Fields will not be playing in the SEC.

What dumb thing for a student to yell. Especially one on scholarship.

It was stupid. I sure am glad I was never held accountable for all of the stupid things I said and did when I was in college.

It is one of the strangest things I have seen. Kirby is kind of between a rock and hard place. Without Fields suited up, we are without a legit QB to run the offense. Fromm is 1 play away from having the 3rd string QB running the offense. With Fields suited up, he gets in the game and one last run with UGA. Perhaps he stays, perhaps not. Least we have a decent backup for the Sugar Bowl.

Not really. Kirby is an adult dealing with a petulant child who's getting poor advice from other people. Anything besides taking the high road makes Kirby and UGA look bad.
That and we do need a back up quarterback for the Sugar bowl.

Yea it's worse, how a 42 year old GROWN MAN gonna let a 19 year old cuck him like this. This kind of cowardry is unthinkable for an SEC coach.

Wait, shite.

Okay, I was a little fuzzy on exactly how the new rules worked. It's a bit more complicated than I was saying. From a USA Today article:

quote:

Currently, an athlete must ask a coach for permission to contact other schools when choosing to transfer. A school interested in recruiting a transferring player also must ask the current school for permission to recruit. Without permission from the original school, the athlete cannot get financial aid from another school, essentially blocking a transfer.

Assuming I'm understanding correctly, the coach can't restrict where the recruit goes or who he contacts, not so much because the NCAA took that power away from the coach (though they kinda did) but because the NCAA took the teeth out of that power. Individual conferences, though, might have their own rules about contact if not financial aid, and since schools agree to abide by the conference rules as requisite to being part of the conference, those rules might supersede the NCAA rules.

One thing I never understood about the Jimbo wife situation (and I do feel bad for the man): how did she find a young dude to hook up, particularly an athlete that could probably have any girl he wanted? She looks like a complete hag.

Yea was just thinking that too. The main guy she was messing with was a former Florida player so maybe he had motivations other than just sex. She got honey dicked and it ruined FSU's resurgence.

Legitimately do feel bad for Jimbo about that, she's a shitty person for it.
