Kirby Smart - Step Up or Face Plant?

Other than walking in Saban's shadow for years, what's this guy got going for him? Is he a breakthrough HC or Muschamp 2.0?

Who knows?! Not a fair comparison because Muschamp worked under 2 other head coaches before landing his HC job.

If he can get the state Bulldog Clubs in line and get the Don Lebrun's of the Bulldog Nation to learn the system of the REC, he will kill it at UGA. There's more talent in that state than anywhere except Florida. Richt was not willing to, but Kirby knows that "the process" demands it.

Only time will tell. He's got a much better disposition for a big-time head coach gig than Corch Boom. I met Kirby when he was the RB coach at UGA, you knew then he'd be a HC one day....and he knew it too.
If you don't go the "proven HC route" he's the best thing going. Being the #2 guy for the what will be the greatest college coach ever is about as good a training ground as you get. However, he won't have some of the "advantages" you get at Bama. But he's chipping away at our culture as well.
Truthfully a no risk move. He could tank and still be an 8-9 win guy simply because we have $$ and recruiting. If he squeaks out that 1 extra win CMR couldn't he could blow the doors off the whole dam thing!

^^^this will determine the degree of success.
IF UGA does what he tells them with no restraints, then I would expect UGA to have massive success.
IF UGA administration and power brokers do not get in line with the PROCESS, then I do not expect more than the CMR 9-3, etc.

Did you not watch UF under Muschamp? Smart can tank and do worse then 8 wins. I thought like you before Muschamp came to UF . UGA could get a lot better or a lot worse it all depends on Smart.
