In all seriousness, it's funny as hell because he didn't get hurt or hurt anyone but his pride but getting drunk enough to run down I-40 is insanely drunk.

It's one of those things where you will always have a story to tell later, even if you have to rely on outside observers to tell you what you did. If you're drinking right, pride goeth before the last call anyway.
(I got a lot of mileage out of that one time in my freshman year, me and my friends got drunk enough to walk to Waffle House at 3 AM. Seven...miles... down... a... major... highway. We were sober enough to know not to drive but not sober enough to know "Why don't pizza places deliver pancakes?" isn't a good reason to do something. I'm told we turned down multiple offers for a ride from friends driving by because...the principle of the matter or something? I have no idea.)
