Ron Polk is only the winningest baseball coach in SEC history and it’s not even close. I think Skip Bertman is like 400 wins behind him.

Yep and 0 national Championships. Good coach and mentor, just couldn’t get it done in Omaha.

How does Polk not make the 1st class?

He just recently retired from coaching and came back to state to assist the AD. That’s my best guess. He’s a lifer around the school now

It is called the Coach Ron Polk Ring of Honor. In other words it is named after him.
For the other idiots on here who don’t know who he is, he is responsible for what SEC Baseball is today. He was a pioneer back in the 1970’s and 80’s who promoted baseball to where it became a big deal around the conference.
And yes he did not win a NC but it takes a great team and some luck to win a NC. The 1985 team was probably the best in the nation that year but had some bad luck in the CWS (which is part of the game) and ended up finishing third.
The 1984/1989 teams were also great teams that could have won it all but lost in the Regional finals. Again the baseball gods frowned on those teams.
So although he did not win a NC, he fielded some great teams over the years at State.
