Since there's little traction for him as a HC does he leave for another OC gig? Bama doesn't seem interested in retaining him

I honestly think they just haven't talked about the contract stuff yet. I think Kiffin is making sure he a Plan B (or Plan A, who knows) in case Saban decides to let him move on.

If he goes, he goes. I like him, but I know that whoever Saban chooses to take his place will be a quality guy.

He can cash in on anyone if he walks away from this season with another NC ring.

Has he ever had more than a one year contract at Bama?

Because a few fans think so? Show me ANYTHING that says Saban doesn't want to keep him....

He's getting little traction for HC positions. Why not be paid more than the HC at ND with less responsibility and pressure? 2 mil is a ridiculous amount to coordinate offense

He raised everyone's contracts AND extended most except kiffin. Then decided once his USC payments stopped to Uo his pay but not extend the time. What does it say when your boss doesn't renew your contracts but extends everyone around you?

I mean - he's making $1.4M right now. If he stayed, my guess is he'd bump up to $1.6M or $1.7M.

Let's put it this way - if Saban values him and makes it a priority, Kiffin will not leave because of money. We bumped our strength coaches salary from $420K to $525K (25% raise) solely to keep him at Alabama when Kirby left for Georgia and courted him.

We doubled Kiffin's salary in September. He makes $1.4M a year. He's the 5th highest paid assistant in the country.

Right now, more openings are about to happen.

I honestly think you answered your own question. 2 million for a coordinator reeks of desperation and I doubt any team will offer that.

You will not get a return on that investment...

Yea - the carousel hasn't even started yet. Kiffin will have opportunities (like he did last year), it's just whether he thinks they are the right ones.

Houston, Arizona, South Florida, Baylor, UCF, Oregon have or could all come open - and on top of that the jobs that coaches vacate to take other jobs will also come open.

And kiffin needs to do what's best for him. We'll be fine either way.

Kiffin would be foolish to get tied down to any coordinator job right now with all the potential head coach openings. And who knows what kind of traction he has until these positions are filled?
