They'll offer Sumlin the job if they think they can get him. I am exceedingly confident that they can't get him.

That's just silly, he would bolt in a heartbeat..

Ummm...you do know that Sumlin was offered the Philadelphia Eagles head coaching job just a few months ago, right? He said no.

He deserved to be fired in that manner after he left UT in the middle of the night
I know how this works, the chick he left you for just dumped him so he will be calling you back now wanting to make up.

Lane Kiffin is Mike Shula. A Caretaker for a great program in trouble. The big guns will now want a piece of this.

He was offered an interview to fulfill their minority interview quota. Don't kid yourself.

If Sumlin wasn't biding his time for a cherry NFL opening he'd take the USC job in a heartbeat.

That's just not true. It has been reported in multiple outlets, and confirmed by Sumlin, that he was offered the job.

Re-read that article. Slowly. The only source that any of it is based on is Billy Liucci.

The aggies over here said that Sumlin turned down the Eagles' job last yr as he felt obligated to not bolt after only one yr on the job (LK take notes as to how ethics works). Several have been saying that the NFL is Sumlin's dream job. So, in a roundabout way, I cann't see him going to USC. Plus, his style of offense would not work with the current crop of QB's on scholarship now.

There are direct quotes from Sumlin, made on video, you dumbass.

quote:

I've never coached in the NFL. I've had plenty of opportunities to do that, both as an assistant coach and even as a head coach

All Sumlin does in those quotes is talk around the issue. He never says "I was offered the Eagle's job and I turned it down." All he's doing there is coach-speaking around the general concept of being offered NFL interviews. He was the Eagle's Token Black Interview.

Dude. He directly said that he had the opportunity to be a head coach in the NFL and he choose to stay in college.

Keltic - agree: he's waiting for the right NFL gig, which is why I don't think he will go to USC. If he didn't want to go to the NFL and USC offered I think he'd go though. USC is a top-5 job. A&M ain't.

Just because he chose to stay in college doesn't mean he will choose to stay at A&M. There's are four or five destination jobs in college football. USC is one of those. A&M isn't.

There is nothing about Sumlin's background, nor nothing that he has ever said publicly (nor reportedly said privately) that indicates that he wants to be in the NFL.
