The meltdown will be nuclear if he passes on them.

Not sure why any coach would leave a professional team to perpetually recruit high school players and his own players

Why would he go there? He’s not the guy to win big at Florida then go to a failing program whose coach left for Arky. Oof.

Kentucky is still letting all its dirty laundry out there for public inspection.

He's not the top target. He's 2 or 3.

Why are they making him say no?
Shouldnt they try to make him say yes.

It’s a tougher choice than other sports

With today's NIL and transfer situation I don't know why anyone would leave the NBA.

This should have been their guy from day one. Just because it's the Pros doesn't mean that's the end all be all for everyone. Examples of coaches going to the pros and hating it were Frank Kush, Bud Wilkinson, Saban, Urban Meyer, Steve Spurrier. It's not for everybody. Hell, the great Bill Walsh said the best job he ever had wasn't the 49ers but being the Head Coach at Stanford. Look, this is still Kentucky. One of the bluest of bluebloods. When Bama went to hire a coach in 2006 Mal Moore said it best. I'm going to go get the best college coach in America whoever that is. Alabama will get back to winning championships. UK has to take the same approach. Pursue what they consider the greatest coach in college basketball. Hey, I love Coach Oats but if you tell me I can him or Donovan I'm taking Billy the Kid every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I know Coach Oats can recruit and has a deep understanding of how NIL and the magic portal work. His offensive genius is just settling in. Throw in his age too. Coach Oats in a landslide. That's why Kentucky came calling first.

Am I insane for thinking that it would be a kinda risky hire?

College Basketball has vastly changed since Billy D. left. To think that he is going to come back and ace the transfer portal and NIL is wishful thinking.....although Kentucky was getting #1 classes with Cal.....

The supposed wish list for our AD is
1. Scott Drew
2. Dan Hurley(longest of longshots)
3. Billy Donovan
4. Sean Miller
5. Shaka Smart
I have no problem with Drew TBH but don’t think he should be first on the list.

calling Hurley a candidate at this point is quite a stretch.
