But there's no doubt the dude is lacking some in the Xs and Os and strategy of the game.
I think some of that has to do with how they basically have had to change how they want to play every season. New players and returning players learning a new system sort of limits what they can do at times.

Maybe it was the pressure of going undefeated. The moment was immensely big, no question.
I definitely think they would have been better off in the long run taking a loss at some point. That is a ton of extra pressure on 18 and 19 year olds that are already dealing with the pressure cooker that is Kentucky basketball.
I actually think this may be one the best "tournament" teams Cal has had because of the guard play. How often have we seen good guard play carry some meh teams through the tournament? It has basically led to UCONN's last 2 championships.

How many times has he lost in the tournament to less-talented teams?
And yet tonight he handily beat a better coach who had a similar talent level and arguably more experience.
Tonight's win makes him 5-2 while at UK against the AP Top 5 when also in the Top 5. He may not be a great Xs and Os guy but the argument several years later that he's not a good coach is laughable. Outside of Wooden, you can't really name a coach who has won championships every time they've pulled at Top 1-2 class. It just doesn't work that way.
And if it was easy as rolling the balls out to talent, Howland would still be at UCLA.

That quote and 1 title doesnt strike you as a bit of an under performance?
He's been to the final four like 4 of the last 5 years man. It is a single elimination basketball tournament. shite happens, we see it every year. There is a reason you don't see this sort of model replicated basically anywhere. Hell the NBA didn't think 5 games was enough.
His first UK team was probably his most talented at the top end, went like 1-20 from 3 in an elite eight game, and lost.

you know its apples and oranges, a basketball player can play at a high level in the nba when he's 18. Either way, its just my opinion, it doesnt bother me at all. I just dont think he's an elite coach.

This is probably the first school calipari hasn't cheated at
He doesn't have to. They are like Alabama football. The place to go

Don't sleep on calipari as a coach. He's pretty good. Watch a guy like Roy Williams try to win with a freshman or young team. It's a disaster. Calipari goes to final four with mostly freshmen.
He's pretty good at what he does
He just has a very punchable face that needs to be punched hard by punching punch fist

No other team is even close. UK has it all, elite guards and forwards. No weakness on this team at all. Including coaching. This team will easily win the SEC this year and IMO look better than last years squad
I'm not so sure. I think by the time conference play rolls around, Bama will have gelled enough with the new players, that they'll give Kentucky a run for their money.

Actually most don't make any real impact in terms of wins and losses until their 3rd year in the league. Majority of guys taken outside of the top 8-10 guys usually don't turn in to anything other than role players.
