that description fits the ones saying it in this thread.

That's good to hear - y'all run a version of the 3-4 right? Not sure he'd be able to go immediately in our 4-3. I've always liked Elam. Bama wanted him but his heart was torn between UT and UK during his recruiting cycle and as a border kid with family in both spots I can understand that. Glad UK got a good one from home - some, not all, but some, in-state kids can be a real help in terms of pride in the program, especially if they grow up fans (they want to do well by the state). Elam seems like the kind of kid who will play with a chip on his shoulder - he knows how hard it's been for UK and he's got a good amount of fight in him.

If more than that, it means he got his conditioning right, so that will be a good thing.
hes probably going to need to be in the 340-350 range to play more than a couple plays at a time consistently, still going to be a mountain of a man no matter what

I will just say that his arms look awfully short. Could make him easier to block but he looks immovable.

Not exactly. Kentucky bounced between 4-2-5 and 3-4 last season though. 4-2-5 was seen more often on standard and passing downs (with FR McClain playing SLB/NB) and the 3-4 more on short yardage downs/run situations.

Our four man front was:

DE - Dupree
3DT - Rumph
1DT - Cobble
DE - Z. Smith

Our three man front was:

OLB - Dupree
DE - Rumph
NT - Cobble
DE - Z. Smith
OLB - Hatcher (FR)

Elam will play 1DT and NG in this system and will probably be pretty darn good. He won't start, but will play situationally as his conditioning allows.

The '14 recruiting class made it pretty obvious that the three man front is here to stay, at least in certain situations. OLB/DEs Denzil Ware (6'2 230) and Lloyd Tubman (6'5 225) are both quick-burst guys who can play up or down.

DE/DT guys like Tymere Dubose (6'6 280) and Adrian Middleton (6'5 275) will both be 3/5 guys.

Elam is clearly a 1/0 guy all the way.

Oh he definitely needs conditioning but he can move for a big guy. His HS tape showed a surprisingly mobile guy for his size.

Looks can be deceiving, I guess. He moves pretty well for a guy his size.

I think that Lloyd Tubman will end up being pretty good. Uninformed opinion and all but I think he'll be a really valuable player.

Its a shame he went to Kentucky. His talents will be wasted there just like Clowney at USCe.

I know Danny Trevathan, Wesley Woodyard, and Avery Williamson are just having an awful time with those NFL contracts as former Kentucky defensive players.

My thread was better than that stupid Ole Miss poster's thread.

Thanks for the bump!
