Stoops would be a logical candidate at Michigan if they overcame their "pro style" obsession. Then again, they didn't give Rich Rod a fair shake and we see quite clearly in hindsight that he was on the verge of a breakthrough given Hoke's success with his players in year 1.

Stoops probably doesn't have enough HC experience and isn't one of the good ol boys network up there. They're gonna make Harbaugh tell them no at the very least.

Here's how the off season is going to shake out.

Boom is fired at Florida. Merlin takes the UF job. Kirby Smart takes over at MSU.
Bert is fired and takes a job at The Golden Corral. Tuberville returns home to coach the hogs and hunt ducks. Boom is named his DC.
Spurrier hangs it up at USC. He is replaced by Mark Stoops. Chad Morris moves to Lexington.
Saban says "frick these ungrateful gumps" and retires to Lake Burton to watch the ducks shite in his yard. After a lengthy search, Pete Carroll is swayed away from the NFL to come to Tuscaloosa. The NCAA immediatey places UA on 3 years probation.
Miles flirts (once again) with Michigan, but ends up staying in Baton Rouge. Jim Harbaugh gets the Michigan job - and Urban starts to feel that uneasy tingling sensation down his right arm.
Mason is shite canned at Vandy and is replaced by David Cutcliff. Rhett Lashlee takes the Duke job.

I'm not hating on MSU, but why go to MSU from UK?

I think that LSU loss will end the speculation for this year. The only way a big time program with an opening would take a shot on him was if he won out.
