UK got lucky they didn't leave. IMHO
Their basketball program would be just as good and their football team would be as good as Louisville's if they had gone to the ACC in the 90's. Louisville has eclipsed UK as an overall athletic program because UL slowly built a program against equal competition while UK has been a doormat in a dominant football league for decades. It would be wise for them to bolt now as well. And before you say "money", the other Big 5 conferences are holding up just fine financially.

They can play a tough OoC schedule in basketball and essentially take the rest of the season off until March. I think they would stay for the same reason FSU remained in the ACC, they have a much easier championship path.
Normally I would agree, but because the NCAA tournament lets 68 teams in, and this is largely based off RPI, basketball programs don't need an easy schedule to win a title. Most are doing everything they can to build the toughest schedule possible. The SEC actually brings down UK's RPI and gives them bad seeds.
Football, unfortunately, rewards whoever can go undefeated with an easy schedule. It's all about record, not quality wins. The ACC or Big Ten would boost UK's basketball RPI and fan experience, while also providing the easy schedule needed to build a relevant football program. Stoops could build a top 25 caliber football team right now in terms of talent and it will still be no better than Miss St's program due to the competition of the SEC.

Sure dude.
Given the football series in the modern era is in their favor 12-8 lets not get crazy.

It would suck losing Kentucky. They are a charter member and yes Florida is good in basketball (mainly due to Donovan). If we would lose UK, we'd be losing our only basketball power.

Kentucky's fan base is much more SEC than UF, Candy, ATM, or Mizzou.

Bobby Bowden admitted at the time that FSU was afraid to join the SEC: “I like to win games, and I can’t think of a tougher place to do that than the SEC.”

CM Newton also brought us Hal Mumme. Kentucky would never leave the SEC, and it shouldn't.

UK fans loved Hal Mumme. After Bill Curry, they thought Mumme was the second coming. Embrace your past caintucky

The fact that our football field is named for him is an absolute slap in the face to UK FOOTBALL fans. Guy did absolutely nothing for the football program.

This is spot on. Why is Slive not pushing for this? I'm sure the ACC would love another basketball power.
FSU was want #1 when we brought in Arky and USCe. Bobby wanted to play an ACC schedule in football rather than an SEC schedule. He even said so himself. They had their chance. frick 'em!

He got us into a probation hole we still haven't crawled out of.

UK fans loved Tim Couch and was sick of him running the option. Any coach would have been successful with that offense. Mumme was turrible. Perfect example of a coach way in over his head.

Yep. Not a fan of Barnhart either. He brought us Billy G and Joker. Calipari hired himself, but I will give him credit for the Stoops hire.

UK needs to spend 2 mil less on a basketball coach and 2 mil more on a football coach.

I'm quite happy with our staff right now. Would put them up against any in the SEC.
