He may not be the best coach of all time, but what he has done at Kansas State is in consideration for best coaching feats of all time

1998 Big 12 Championship
Texas A&M 36
Kansas State 33
Final/2OT

As someone who was at that game, the score doesn't even tell the full story. Highlights

-Kansas State was ranked #1 in the Coaches Poll, but #3 in the BCS behind UCLA and Tennessee

-During the second quarter, after Kansas State took a 17-6 lead, and had just potentially knocked out A&M's BACKUP quarterback (starting QB Randy McCown broke his collarbone the week before against texas), the PA announcer announced the score of the UCLA/Miami game, which Miami won. This prompted the highly partisan crowd (game was in St. Louis) to throw tortilla's on the field in anticipation of the Fiesta Bowl, the site of the first BCS Title.

-After 3, the score was 27-12. After A&M scored to make it 27-19, but later failed to convert on a 4th down with 3:27 left. Dat Nguyen forced a fumble of Michael Bishop giving A&M the ball back for a potential game-tying drive.

-With 1:05 left, A&M scored to make it 27-25, then made the 2 point conversion to tie it.

-Martin Grammatica, Kansas State's kicker, had a range of 60 yards, and almost got there were it not for a 12 men in the huddle penalty against Kansas State with 3 seconds left.

-On the final play of regulation, Bishop heaved it towards the endzone where it was caught at the 3. A&M defensive back Toya Jones alertly blasted the receiver and prevented him from lateraling it, forcing overtime.

-In the first overtime, both teams were stopped at the goalline, forcing field goals.

-In Kansas State's possession of the second overtime, they were held to 3 and out, resulting in a FG to make it 33-30.

-A&M's overtime possession started off poorly, with a loss of 2 on first down, then an incomplete pass. On 3rd and 12, A&M was called for a false start, making it 3rd and 17. At that point, they were in big trouble because kicker Russell Bynum's career long was 39 yards and now they were facing a 49 yard try.

-On 3rd and 17, Branndon Stewart hits Sirr Parker on a simple slant pattern. After slipping the first tackle, he races towards the endzone where he is dragged down by the Kansas State defender at the 1 yard line...but not before knocking over the pylon with the football.

Yup. And Kansas St is my favorite Big 12 team because in a Game Of Thrones thought process they are one of the few whose success doesn't hurt my favorite team.

How do you define "coach circles around" Sumlin?

It means Sumlin is drunk and spinning.

Should LSU relinquish play calling to their winninest coach in program history and let the D-line coach be head coach?

An A&M nut hugger. Didn't LSU destroy Mizzou?

To appear on the opposite sideline.

Claim victory just by showing up on the opposite sideline?

Or are you just saying that because Les Miles actually ran to the wrong sideline on National TV?

I thought just showing up was enough to claim victory against Sumlin.

That's how Les and our new retard did it anyway.

I was just playin'.

Yes, it worked for Les. But Les had the stud athletes. He wasn't coaching circles around anyone.

Find another coach who can do what Bill Snyder did all-time not named Saban, Bowden, Bryant, or Meyer.

I don't think any of the five you named could have both built/ sustained Snyder success at KState

All of the listed guys built on recruiting top talent that isnt available at Kansas St

I don't know if Snyder could have won big at a top5 program, but I don't think any other coach could pull of the ridiculous run he did at KState either

Snyder has won ONE bowl game since his return in 2009. ONE. I think the aggots win this one pretty easily.

We will see if he can pull off a run at State like Snyder did at KSU. He hasn't come close yet but it did take Snyder time. State is also an easier job than KSU was back then
