Barrett Jones is brittle:

Tide left tackle Barrett Jones, who has been a utility player on the offensive line, has coped with hand and hip injuries, and most recently a high ankle sprain in Alabama's 9-6 overtime loss to LSU on Nov. 5. The ankle injury forced the Outland Trophy winner to miss two games before his return against Auburn.

"Those last three weeks were really good for me," Jones said. "High ankle sprains take a while to get fully healed. I think the important thing is, functionally, it feels pretty good. In other words, what I'm able to do, I can do just about everything. Is there a little pain still involved? Maybe. I don't really mind the pain. You can do things about the pain. Just make sure it's functional."

Kuondijo bros = brittle

Jones' health has been of great concern after the loss of backup tackles Cyrus Kouandjio and Arie Kouandjio, who are brothers. They returned to practice this week and rode stationary bikes side-by-side Tuesday, an encouraging sign, but far from a full return to the lineup. Each is recovering from midseason knee surgery.

Mark Barron = brittle

Alabama safety Mark Barron missed most of the Auburn game with what Saban described as a cartilage and rib injury. He has practiced the first two days of preparation for the Jan. 9 BCS Championship Game against LSU, and appears to show no signs of injury.

Anthony Steen = Brittle

Alabama managed its offensive line well. Senior Alfred McCullough proved his worth replacing Anthony Steen at right guard after a concussion. When Jones was out, McCullough showed his versatility playing at left tackle with Steen's return at right guard.

That thing looks like it will hold several footballs. Does that mean we'll do better than 2 int's and 3 sacks this year?
