The guy seems to be cranky a lot lately for some reason. The demands of the Alabama job on a yearly basis getting the best of him or is he just getting tired of how the game is changing and how recruiting continues to evolve?
Before it was all about the hurry up no huddle offense. Then it was about player safety. Then it was about early signing period. Then it was about the college football playoff. Now it is about having the need for a level playing field because a few college coaches from up north want to come south to coach at a local college camp for a day.
I can't see the guy being around the game much longer for all of the complaining he has done lately.

He has actually shown a steady decline in crankiness since 2011. Pay attention.
As far as his speak on various issues in college football, he has always done that, because he knows politics, and likes playing the game. Again, you should pay attention.

He's relaxed a ton over the course of the going on 9 years he's been here. He knows he has a lot of pull with the things he says and does, so he uses that for what he views as the betterment of the game.
Nothing wrong with that. Similar to politics... the "big boys" are always pushing issues to the front because it brings attention to the issue one way or another.

He's still pissed, that he didnt take the Texas job. What a mistake. He couldve went down as the GOAT in his era. Now he gets to watch Urban "who he helped run out of the SEC" Meyer, claim the award.

He's trying to keep a competitive advantage. He's doing what just about every coach would do if given such a large platform.
