Bill is Greg’s father, and was also an AD for a long time. I doubt he was involved here tho

ADs often put out a false hire on purpose. Pate probably got info from a very legit source but ADs tend keep hires so inside that initially only handful people really know. Even those in the upper ranks of an AD might not know a thing at this point.
