No one denies the kid has talent. He's just really unfortunate looking

If anything I feel bad for him. Imagine being in college and in the public spotlight and having this disease (alopecia) hit (he had hair and eyebrows in HS and even his first year at UT). It would honestly take a lot of courage to cope with that because as QB you're on national tv and giving interviews.

That said, he looks normal with a hat or head wrap on because it obscures the receding hairline caused by the alopecia that makes his forehead look so big. Too bad he can't wear those things during interviews. His mom uses headbands/headwraps to hide the effects in her but women can get away with that because it just looks like a normal hair accessory.

Maybe he'll get hair plugs or whatever might help when he's got money from either the NFL and/or making airplanes. I have a friend who is an MD and he bad teeth (they were too small and just looked weird - bad genes I guess) and as soon as he finished his residency and opened his practice he got them fixed.

TL;DR - Yes the alopecia makes him unfortunate looking, esp. w/o a hat but it's wrong to make fun of him given the cause. FWIW, I don't think you did that tilco but others constantly do.

Well said... I agree.

If I were him, I'd just shave it completely off and hear a cap everywhere I could (which in college is 99% of the time)

You think only football players are allowed to work out? And what does working out have to do with fighting? I guarantee you there is some built arse boxer at a trailer park who would crush his skull.

True. Regardless of his looks, he's also an excellent representative of UT/SEC football and college football in general. In a world awash with woman-beaters, guys who can barely tie their own shoelaces, guys who major in 'undeclared' for 3-4 years and guys who commit major crimes and on and on we need more players like Josh. It's good for our image, especially the SEC's which is continually put down (often unfairly) as having players dumber and more violent than other conferences.

Our image problem is one of the reasons I absolutely loved seeing the story of your guy (name escapes me atm) who had the book club he went to and focused on improving himself and his reading.

CFB is under threat due to its perceived violence/concussions and the image of violent dumb jocks adds to that threat.

At least you have the trailer park end of it covered.

Why is he lifting weights at a Midnight Madness Bowling event? I can't wait for the glow in the dark bowling segment. What color will his faux eyebrows be?

Well stated, as usual. I would take a football team full of kids like Dobbs and he does seem to represent UT very well which is a nice change. His looks mean absolutely nothing except discussion fodder for message board posters, which are mostly men--which makes it a little weird.

I can't argue with you on that. From everything I have read or seen he seems like a polite, hard working, and very intelligent young man who happens to have some real talent at playing football.

What can you do? Bert is going to be called fat well after he stops coaching at Arkansas, Hugh Freeze will be compared to a rabid beaver until the end of time, and however long he hangs around people are going to be posting the vine of Spurrier humping his exercise ball. Dobbs is going to be the weird face guy.

Still, he who laughs last laughs best and becoming an aerospace engineer is a pretty good fallback plan for after football. With the exception of the Arkansas game I wish the kid the best of luck.
