SEC Blind QB resumé:

Passing stats in 5 games vs 5 top 30 defenses in ‘18

QB 1: 52% 169yds/gm 0 TD’s, 4 Int

QB 2: 55.7% 178yds/gm 5 TD’s, 3 Int

(Both had a record of 3-2)

The perception of these two QB’s and how good they are/were is WILDLY different.

Who would you take?

Guessing Mond and Burrow based on those completion percentages.

ETA: Franks, wow. Neither of those are good though, so it doesn’t change my opinion on Franks.

Changes my opinion of Burrow a little, but not much.

Bare minimum for TDs in any 5 games for Tua is 8, not to mention he said both QBs went 3-2. Alabama only lost 1 game all of last year.

It couldn't be Tua because he said that the QBs both had a 3-2 record in those 5 games.

Bama only lost once all season.

Who cares? What teams were they playing? When did they play? What injuries did each team have?

Blind resumes are really stupid.

Lets say what it really is: I cherry picked a few stats of 2 QBs and I'm not going to provide any context so that I can pretend 1 QB is better than the other.

They should be shot down as bullshite no matter what they "uncover".

He did provide some context, but the numbers speak for themselves. Top 5 defenses are going to be mostly SEC games. That's plenty info for these purposes.

The exercise is about making a judgement on limited context to eliminate preconceptions and inherent bias then seeing what you learn when you add the context.

I would like to see what game he picked. Burrow had a td vs auburn. Was Auburn. Not top 30? I think these stats may not be correct

Which is really dumb considering that much more information was available.

No, he told you where he cherry picked.

"Top 30 defenses" doesn't really even say much. What if 1 of them played #1, #2, #3, #4, #5 and the other played #25-30. That's an extreme, but it doesn't say much.

And then there is that overall defense doesn't say much either. What about teams that are ranked up high more because of rush defense and don't have good pass defenses. Or vice versa. You can get extremes in that way as well.

And for all we know they both of them could have been bad in many games, and then had a bunch of luck in 1 game that makes them look better. Take Manziel in his heisman year. Against good defenses he got smacked around mostly. LSU and Florida straight shut him down. Then he goes and plays Alabama, has a ton of luck like fumbling the ball and having it bounce right back in his hands.

This is why I look at stats like FEI and S&P(called SP+ now and was just picked up by ESPN). They take these things into account. But they don't do individual players, just teams.

I mean are these top30 defenses even based on advanced stats? Or is it just top30 scoring defenses or what? Because top30 on advanced stats is usually quite a bit different than top30 that doesn't take opponents into account.

And then there are the game plans and other circumstances around the games. Injuries, weather, etc.

There is a reason it's done blind, it's to pull the wool over eyes.
