"Your coach is one of the greatest, but not THE greatest of all time! So there!"

I'm not surprised you'd say that

Carroll had 2 NFL stops that were much worse than Saban's tenure in Miami
No one it's denying Carroll's NFL career wasn't a bust in the beginning...only that Saban tenure at Miami was also a joke.

So all three of the only coaches to ever win a natty in college and win the super bowl either coached or played at Arkansas.

absolute joke and one of the worst? Compare the 04 Dolphins and the 05 Dolphins records. He didn't light the NFL on fire but one of the worst is crazy.

I think you have to look at Saban's time @ Miami in context. They were 4-12 the season before he came, and 1-15 the season after. He did a fine job with a bad franchise in retrospect. It's really too small a body of work to make too much of a judgement, but when Joey Harrington is your starting QB for most of a year, you know you have problems.
I think it's telling though that he'd be the #1 candidate today for any NFL job that he wanted if he had the itch to try the NFL again.
Jimmy Johnson is a great coach, but keep in mind his NFL success came with Dallas teams with 6 hall of fame starters and another 5-6 pro bowlers on board. Dallas was the last team you could build like that before the salary cap era changed everything. He also coached a 1-15 team during that tenure if you remember. Talented rosters makes all these guys look better.

The greatest? Jimmy Johnson bar none IMO. Those Cowboy teams in 92 and 93 were fricking incredible.
Carroll is right behind him.
BIG GAP
Switzer
Saban
If we're just comparing college careers then Saban is obviously not last. However, given the full resume including NFL success, then Saban easily falls short.

Not arguing that Switzer > Johnson but always found it amusing that Switzer's detractors made the claim that he "won with Jimmy's players". Like there was no fricking way he could have LOST with those same players if he didn't know how to coach.
FWIW....also found it equally ridiculous when my fellow Bama fans tried to paint Les Miles with the same brush about "winning with Saban's players".
