Good defensive coach.
Abrasive personality
If he can find someone to bring in talent, he can make good things happen. If not, you'll see a lot of tight, low scoring games where you'll want to pull your hair out watching their offense.
I think AU could do better, but I understand the reluctance to go for another flavor-of-the-week mid-major coach

auburn have a collis temple type that can funnel elite local recruits to brady? if so i guess it's an upgrade.

It definitely depends on the assistant hires but he was given the 2006 roster thanks to Collis. My long time family friends with the program said he suddenly left practice to the assistants and everything went downhill from there. But I'd imagine he'd be motivated given the opportunity to get back in a major conference. I'm not sure how I feel about this hire it kind of reminds me of ole miss hiring nutt. He had his moments no doubt but overall he was mediocre

John Brady has coached at Arkansas State bro. Six or seven seasons. No major program has called for his services. End of discussion.
When you are still at Ark. State, you are a frickup.

he is not nearly as bad as some LSU fans will say but he needs to have an ace recruiter on staff and be warned that it's unlikely that his personality will endear him to the community.

All I said was that he was mediocre. That's pretty much exactly what he was

I apologize. I did not mean to insult op. John Brady ran off a lot of players. He was hit and miss...mostly miss. He seemed like a prick and he liked younger ladies if you get the drift.
He is still at Ark. State, so the 411 is out on JB. No major university A.D's have touched him with a 10 foot poll.

This pretty much covers the Auburn coaching search:

what are lsu fans opinion of him and do you think it would be a good hire
Let's put it this way....John Wooden was merely a foreshadow of John Brady.

Y'all don't want Brady.
Boosters at stAte are trying to figure out how to get rid of him. They can't fire him because his buyout is too big. They didn't expect him to suck this bad at the Sun belt level.

He's really not a bad x's and o's (defensively) coach but he'll run off most of his talent because he is such a massive douche.
He can't coach offense.
So he's exactly like Tony Barbee?

John Brady? O, my. Auburn may as well drop MBB if they are gonna hire John Brady to be their head coach.

What? You have beef with him? He's posting winning seasons at that shithole. What exactly is state upset about?

No beef with the guy
He is 7-9'against their in state rival, UALR
No conference titles
No post season games
2 losing seasons in his six years
While their rival has
Won their conference regular season
9-7 against Brady at state

Please hire him. You'll never regret is...except for the fact that you will regret it...almost instantly. the rest of the conference will not regret you hiring him though.

He did a great job turning Samford around. That was a sad, sad, sad basketball school before he arrived. Turning around Auburn would not be that difficult.
He was boom and bust at LSU. I actually thought his best coaching job was during one of his worst years at LSU. Because of NCAA rules at the time, he had something like 6 total players, and he gave everyone fits that year. (Maybe it was the year after Swift left for the NBA???)
He is in Jonesboro now. I think he gets a pass. I don't think he realized when he took the job what a tough sales pitch it would be to get better talent to Jonesboro.
He can be abrasive, but he is also way more pleasant and outgoing than Stansbury. And contrary to what some people are saying, a large segment of his former players would run through a brick wall for him.

auburn can do better than john brady. while in IMO he would have to have a big time recruiter on his staff because HE cannot go into a living room and sell the program. Also, the reason Trent Johnson was bought in was because of the atrocious graduation rate and also running off of players. And any coach that awards Ben Voogd a schloarship automatically should be crossed off any list of potential candidates.
