Great assistants and a great QB masked their coaching deficiencies and once what was gone that made them great, their coaching flat lined.

Tell me I'm wrong.

Undefeated Shaun King. Almost won a SB too.

Rich Rod was the OC then.

Yup! Tell me I'm wrong. Jimbo is VERY average.

I don't care what ANYONE says, it was the kickoff return TD that cost us that Natty. Yes, our defense was shitty in the 2nd half but that kickoff TD was THE dagger.

I like Jimbo is solid all around, but I agree that his general reputation has always seemed bloated to me.

You do a lot worse, but if you expect him to be a Saban/Meyer/Harbaugh or even Dabo at this point I think you are in for a rude awakening. He'll probably recruit really well and A&M will be a solid Top 15-25 type team most years with a few Top 10 teams sprinkled in, but he's not going to show up and start winning 10+ games every year.

Yep not bitter, looks like a solid non-biased opinion to me!

No, I've known way before then. I've always cringed at the thought of this guy at Auburn. Yella Fella loves him some Jimbo.

We've had one 10 win season in like 20 years and it took a heisman trophy winner. I'd be happy just getting an SECW home win with Fisher.

Yea - like I said - I think it's all about expectations. Jimbo is a solid coach and a good program builder. Great recruiter. A&M will certainly be a better program with him at the helm and it would be a very, very solid hire.

And that is all we want. Some ten win seasons, some nine win seasons, and a better season once every five years maybe.

He has averaged 10.5 wins over 8 years.

He averages a conference title every other year.

I am not so sure you understand what average means if you believe he is average.

Perfectly attainable I'd think

Mr. 3rd or 4th in the division every year? He's closer to Sumlin then Meyer.
