Yeah, yet again. Hope he doesn't start pulling a Brett Favre.

During the late 90s I thought the Bama baseball program was on the verge of doing something really special. It never came to fruition.

Why was Wells never able to build upon that success?

he's been wanting to retire for several years now. i think the adm. has talked him out of it once or twice. i'm sure he has his reasons, probably personal. he's a very good coach that seems to have lost the fire in his belly. happens a lot. the state of alabama has some good baseball. somebody highly motivated could bring the program back up in a few short years. i believe the UA fans would support the program if it was a winner.

you are sounding like some of the bama fans now (unless you're being facetious). saban has gotten tuberville and fulmer fired and soon to get miles, richt and meyer fired.

Yet, that didn't keep Alabama from having success in the late 1990s. Nor has it historically kept Mississippi State or Ole Miss from being rather successfull. Yes, a lottery in a state helps, but its not the sole reason for success.

He was going to retire a few years ago but the admin wasn't going to hire Gaspard which was his pick. So he came back and brought Gaspard in as his associate head coach to get him started. He rode it out for Gaspard. Gaspard owes him big time
