Jeremy Pruitt - Head coach in 2018-19 season?

Given the current climate in the SEC (specifically at programs like Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Tennessee) would Jeremy Pruitt be considered a head coaching candidate if the aforementioned schools go 7-5, 8-4 this upcoming season? Chip Kelly will obviously be a hot commodity after the 2017-18 season, but I feel that a lower caliber SEC school would make a play for Pruitt.

Just speculating, but this could potentially leave Saban without a DC and no OC (assuming the new OC is a one and done) going into the 2018-19 season. Could that scenario be enough to cause Saban to consider retiring or "leaving for the NFL" for 1-2 years?

Thoughts?

Well he is certainly the best DC in the country.

He has the award to prove it.

My guess is he'd probably go out and hire a couple of coordinators after he wins or loses his playoff game, sign another #1 class and move on with it.

I think there is a reason he hasn't been offered a HC job. His temperament and personality has always appeared to be incompatible with great leadership required to be a HC. At least, this is what a lot of UGA fans came to think. The guy is heck of a DC and knows the game/can recruit, but has a reputation of being a complete dick. He very may well get a head coaching job soon and if that happens Saban would simply plug in some other guy to run his defense.

Either head coach or NFL DC.

I've always gotten the impression that's he's just a meathead. Knows football and is a damn good coach, but has few social skills and comes across as a jackass.

Hell you may WANT him gone after he loses back to back games to ACC teams.

Nah, we're good with Nick - he can hang around until he's ready ride off into the sunset.

He's a great DC, but I would be very hesitant to hire him as a HC.

With the rules geared toward offensive, DC's will have a harder path to HC than before.

That is an interesting perspective I had not previously considered.

Let Pruitt bring down the bama d first and then he can leave.

He left UGA in shambles.

It might be that he is green. He just finished his 4th season as a coordinator, only his 7th season on the field.
