So you truly believe that fans are the reason this is in the talks?

School admins (like Long @ Arky) need to STFU about it. Don't make comments, just don't change your schedule and remain the frick silent. The UA coaching staff could easily find a way to make this a "see how everyone is against us" thing.

And leave the schedules alone anyway cause heaven forbid some team changes their schedule to give Bama a break and then Bama looses that game anyway. shite talking would be epic.

Did you not see where the writer of the article says: I reached out to Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long about the report.

Look bro, I read the article, and despite the way it sounded, I am not down on Long. I just think that any AD approached about this should say "no comment".

That's all.

I just hate that I posted something that I thought would be imformitive about which games might actually get moved and then someone comes along and post delusional shite like
quote:

@ the fans who are acting all proud and shite because their team "won't budge" on the matter. Of course they won't! Why would they? Now if this was Auburn we were talking about here, maybe some teams wouldn't be as reluctant to move their bye weeks.

Which fricks up the entire purpose of the thread up.

It is what it is. Bye weeks can be double edged swords. Sure, teams have extra time to get healthy and prepare, but how many times have teams come out of their bye week flat?

I'm not sure why anyone would specifically bitch about Auburn having a bye week before they play us. It's a short week due to the Iron Bowl being on a Friday, and I don't think it would be fair for them to play UGA and us back-to-back with only 6 days to prepare. We effectively have a bye week ourselves that weekend, given the fact that we play Georgia State.

I'm willing to bet it was a fan or fans who noticed all the bye weeks schedule before they played 'Bama. Like I said do you think Saban, or coaches, or someone in the front office was just sitting there staring all of 'Bama's SEC opponents and found all the bye weeks?

Was it the 'Bama fans that went to the SEC about this? No, but they are the ones it became common knowledge.

While i think the SEC should not get to this point of having this problem, i hope that Auburn does move their by week. It will accomodate Auburn more than Bama. I hate that we have 11 games in a row...maybe that is why UGA has been killing us lately. I hope we move it, get our homecoming game and week off before playing our two biggest rivals.

Many would be singing a different tune if it was their team having to play so many teams coming off a bye week.

Listen, it's not our job to fix what the SEC f's up. Complain to them.

Which lends itself to my point. If Auburn moved their bye week and then won the IB, it would add, exponentially, to the trash talking. And I wouldn't blame AU fans a bit for it.

And to whatsyourname, I was not crying about it at all. Quite the contrary, I was saying everyone need to shut up about it and just leave it like it is.

I have to agree with this. Jeff Long didn't issue this schedule, the SEC did. If we have a choice of moving our open date or leaving it alone, I think Jeff Long should look at those options and do what gives Arkansas the best competitive advantage, if one does indeed exist. It is not his job or priority to make sure things are fair and/or equitable for Alabama - or anyone else for that matter. His one and only obligation is to look out for the U of Arkansas' best interests. I find it very hard to believe there would be any sympathy for Arkansas from the other 11 member schools if it was us in that situation. And I would hope that we (and by "we" I mean fans and administration) would not whine and bitch about it if it did happen. The appropriate thing to do is bring it to the commissioner's attention, play the games as scheduled and ask that in future years, do not do that to anybody.
