I am not a huge jj fan, but he is only responsible for the coaching hires, not the product on the field. He has made some good hires at the time, and he has made some bad hires. The other aspects that he oversees are comparable to the rest of the sec.

In all seriousness, this is just sad on so many levels for AU's fanbase.

The committee seems to think he's doing a fine job. I'm not exactly sure who the committee thinks should shoulder the blame for multiple athletic programs floundering around the bottom of the conference right now? But Jay is safe.

Sounds like the "committee" thinks Jacobs is gettin the job done.

Committee was built to give that exact answer. JG doesnt' care about athletics in the least and basically wanted this to give him a reason not to touch the AD.

AU's athletics department is a mess and until JJ, and a few others are kicked out, it will continue the downward spiral. Oh sure football will do great but the rest of the sports are falling fast.

AU will wake up about 5 years down the road and realize how bad things are but it will take a decade to dig out of it, and some programs will never be able to fully recover.

I am anti-Jacobs for 2 reasons:

1 - Chizik's huge buyout
2 - Tim Jackson

JJ has single handidly destroyed the swimming program. After speaking to a few people they are not sure AU can recover from the damage he's done, to get to being the top program in the nation.

When you are arguably the top program in the nation, coupled with the sport generally has student athletes yes it is a major thing.

Swimming is a sport generally the wealthy are involved in, plus again they are typically very smart and help boost grad rates.

JJ had a personal issue with David and decided to slowly strangle the program because of a grudge.

Other programs that have gone up against JJ have suffered similar issues, slowly funding has been cut.

Great, the guy that holds the responsibility of firing/retaining Jay Jacobs also loves losing and making bad hires.

Awesome.

I forget who said it on our board, but JG needs to go first and JJ soon after.

Gogue hates dealing with sports period, and doesn't care for it. Gogue is one of those he'd be happy to get rid of athletics all together.

he's done a lot for AU while there from an academic standpoint, but athletically we are sucking due to a major lack of leadership right now. I wish we still had Lowder running the show, beware what you wish for.

I just don't understand how either of them still have a job.

You have to believe that roughly, at least, 75% of Auburn fans are unhappy about where all athletics are. Typically, Auburn being good at football gives all the others a pass. But now with the football program down, it gives everyone time to magnify everything else and notice that we are terrible in everything.

It may take those 75% writing the BoT and boosters cutting back on donations. It has always been obvious JG has little allegiance to sports. It seems like we are in for more JJ.
