Wouldn't have been if the pass had been dropped.

Wonder if his dad being a Tn State Trooper influenced the decision?

Probably not. This is a pretty typical outcome for a first time offense/simple possession charge. It's a citation level crime. Something must've been weird about the search though because I'd have expected pretrial diversion (basically stay out of trouble for a few months and then they'll drop your charges) instead of a dismissal like this. The cop likely made a procedural mistake somewhere or didn't file the right paper work which happens a lot on small time shite. That or the amount was so small the prosecutor simply declined to press it which happens a lot if it's under a certain amount (you've already been arrested and have to pay fines and that's often seen as punishment enough for this).
Either way, he'd have had no charges by the end of summer. That's just the way this particular charge works for most first time offenders.

Makes sense. Knowing JJ's dad, I'm sure BJ disciplined his son.

Yeah. From what I've heard, I wouldn't want him mad at me. JJ does need to maybe lose a few of his old HS buddies though and realize that he's now living his life in a fish bowl where people are watching everything he does.
