There were quite a few plays that cost Bama the game honestly. Not just the helmet bounce, which obviously was a "fluke," but the 5 turnovers. Those two kickoff fumbles were unforced errors, not flukes. The three picks weren't flukes. Ole Miss' other touchdowns weren't flukes. Ole Miss won and Bama lost on more than just one play.

Didn't Bama close the gap on a fluke play? The onside kick punch was arguably illegal and undeniably a pretty massive fluke (recovering an onside kick is like a 1/20 thing, doing it on your opponent's 30 has got to be 1/100 at best).

right, but the rest of the game is different too.

could bama have won?

sure.

ole miss could've still won the game too.

Jason Seahorn was a fluke. So I guess he should know.

Yeah but Bama could have jumped offsides on 4th down or muffed the punt.
There are a lot of possibilities that could have come after that. Bama could have gone on a long drive to score a td.

Exactly. Just pointing out that we didn't win the game because of that one fluke play.

No. Just two fluke plays. As well as five very preventable turnovers, of which only one was forced by the defense (the last one).

Bingo. Freeze wants people to think it was just a fluke play. It won't happen until the LSU game when we are down 3 with 4 minutes to go in the game. Then Freeze pulls it out once again and we win the SEC West.

Not trying to hijack here but you do realize that is exactly how last year went but you didn't win, right?

Ole Miss had not come close to going on any long drive to the end zone and in the second half the pass rush was getting to Kelly. If you take away the fluke and the illegal play they only had around 300 yards total for the game.

The defense was gassed and I truly think if the helmet bouncer does not happen they do not win.

Uh the pass down the sideline to a wide open Cody Core wasn't a fluke play. It was a breakdown in your coverage and Kelly exploited it.

Yeah the hit that forced the second kickoff fumble wasn't caused by us. Nor were all of the interceptions that our defensive line forced your quarterbacks to throw off target. All preventable.

And if your player doesn't illegally tap the ball on the onside kick, Ole Miss wins by two touchdowns. We could do this all day.

The next down was 4th & 7. That is if we are talking about the play where he just threw it up for grabs.

Actually I thought the throw up for grabs was on a 3rd and 1? I could have easily seen freeze go for the 4th down.

Wasn't that play on 3rd down?

Yes, it was. Bama was about to get the ball back.

No. It was 3rd & 7. The illegal pop pass play was on 3rd & 1.

This. Nobody knows how the game would have gone had Quincy dropped that ball though. Chad could have taken the offense on a 14 play touchdown drive and that would have been more devastating than the fluke play. That one play didn't win us the game though.

You won by 6. That play got you 7. I'm no math wiz but...

Bama picked up some key 3rd downs because ole miss was playing soft. We could go on and on about this.

Well, it would have been 4th and about 30 so jumping offsides would not have helped but given the shiattastic state of Bama special teams, you'd have had at least a 50-50 shot on the punt muff.

More likely that the punt would have been muffed by the returner.

Why is the illegal Bama play on the onside kick not being brought up when discussing this game?
