it wasn't a team vote to see if he would be punished.
The staff made the initial call to let him back after the judge. Then they said that the team needed to see if he should be back.

What kills me is guys getting in trouble because they lack self control. Losing your temper and lashing out with violence is just selfish and immature. These kids know they're relied on by team mates and still can't control themselves. shite is sad.
