I took it as her son proving why he was the starter over Kamara.

I didn't read it as a shot at Kamara, but more of a statement as her son is better.

She was the only other trashy mother I can think of who tweeted nasty stuff about another college athlete. Seemed like a valid comparison

She's been in this long enough to know better. Jalen did all the damage himself by becoming a quitter and sandbagging the games he did play. He will sink or swim on his own and while I get being protective of your kid, knocking other people down is NOT being protective. It's misguided at best.

IOW, if you can't enjoy a teammate's success STFU.

Eh I don't think it's that at all. She's always been over-protective of Jalen but it's not a money thing, imo.

You gonna apologize to Hyams, now? Shiit, getting drunk and arguing with Gatas is a goddamn Amurrican right. Of all things, I won't hold that against her. This tho is pure silliness.

Agreed which is why I think what Jalen's mom did was far trashier. I'm trying to give her a compliment man

I agree with this. I read it as her saying if all these people are wondering how Kamara didn't start, Jalen is going to show how good he is next year. Don't think it was a dig at Kamara, but I could be wrong.

Technically, Hurd and Kamara were 1a and 1b not starter and backup. That said, she's mad as hell that 1. her boy listened to his absent daddy and up and quit 2. now her status in the state is about the same as Jalen's 3. bio dad has Jalen so messed up that he was too stupid to simply declare for the draft. 4. unlike bio dad she lives here. 5. did I mention she lives here?

I'd be mad too if I were her but it's clear Jalen made his own decisions AND decided that his absentee dad was worth listening too. She ought to just stfu and let Jalen do as he pleases. If he wishes to be a dumbass let him. He's of age and he's obviously not listening to her.

I think Twitter has surpassed alcohol as the best way to embarass yourself. Then again, it looks like Hurd's mama is covering her bases either way.

You're giving her too much credit and I give her some leeway cuz moms are gonna be moms and over protective but she was taking shots.

The main reason Hurd 'started' and they were really 1a and 1b was due to two things: 1. Hurd was a boss in pass pro and Kamara (esp. his first year wasn't good at pass pro yet). 2. Hurd had ball security whereas Kamara was a tad reckless with the ball. Those were particularly true in year 1 but Kamara improved immensely in pass pro and got better with ball security (tho he was still too casual in protecting the ball his second year).

Now the unspoken one is 3. given how important Mid State is to UT it was important to keep Hurd happy. That's the one that drives me crazy but also prob. the one that caused Hurd to get more carries in year two even after his performance tanked.
