It's understandable for refs to make a horrible call

Forward progress is not reviewable.

What I don't understand is that we're supposed to take their word for it and yet the whistle does not come until after he scores the TD.

Dude, that was 4th down. What happened on 1st and goal from the 2?

But the ref that blew the whistle ruled that forward progress was stopped.
I'm not defending the call, but the replay ref can't be blamed for it.

Which is a catch all bullshite reason. But even here the whistle and motion was after UT scored.

The whistle doesn't blow until after the TD. That's on tape clear as day.

Like I said above the whistle was only blown until after he scored but supposedly the ref had already ruled the runner down by forward progress. Now isn't this a easy out for the ref? They can rule a play dead because of forward progress no matter if the whistle was blown or not. So many people wonder why we think the games are not honest.

Commentators said it’s not the whistle but any ref that calls a stop in forward progress. But that doesn’t make sense to me. Isn’t the whistle the thing the refs use to signal an end to forward progress /the play and what all the players are supposed to listen to to stop playing???

dead wrong on both. Forward progress was never stopped and the whistle happened well after he scored.

The whistle doesn't determine the ruling on the field in this instance. I know the commentators started rambling about it, but they were totally wrong in their speculation.

Yes. Play does not end until whistle is blown

Exactly. Why didn't that same ref make that silent call when our no tackling arse defense let that tight end score. We deserve ALOT of blame for that but if you want to act as if we didn't get fricked on that you're not being honest with yourself.

Tennessee should vow to never play in the Music City Bowl again
