that motherfricker cherry-picked his schedule every year

bye weeks or cupcakes before big games

no UF or UGA until the the SECCG

OOC games with big names but who were struggling at the time (except for the OOC games coming soon)

now with OU, Texas, and a bigger playoff bracket, winning year in and year out is going to be impossible for any team

it's the schedule. that's always been one of his biggest advantages

You people are using Saban as the scape-goat and punching bag for every crazy thought y'all have. He wasn't the big bad wolf you make him into be.

Every team gets a bye and most have it schedule before an important game.

Auburn always plays a cupcake before Alabama too. Well, this year maybe not.

I can guarantee you he wouldn't have missed one playoff going forward with it expanding to 12 teams lol

Sheesh....all this pent up anger over a coach is a little weird

Apparently the OP also forgot that cross-division conference opponents rotated every year with the exception of Tennessee.

Well… other than that, it’s the SCHEDULE

Please tell us HOW he "cherry picked" a 12 YEAR rotational conference schedule.

Or just maybe, at 72, he's normal and mortal - has the riches of the world and feels it's time to share what few years he has left with his wife without living in the InstaPot pressure of college football. He's accomplished more than ANY commenter, or fan, of the sport, but people think they can conduct an autopsy of his motivations to retire (schedule, portal, NIL, etc) and judge him. We should just recognize his greatness and be appreciative to have been alive during his reign. It will not soon be repeated. Tip of the hat sir.

Because EVERYBODY knows how a player/team's going to be in the future when these games are made.
BTW, how about giving us winning lottery #'s.

This. The same argument I make when people want to trash the 2023 schedule for Liberty. Things just worked out well for them. It happens.

I keep hearing this but MOST years there are, at best, 2 teams that can win it all...usually one was clearly better than everyone when all is said and done. That doesn't change with a bye for winning the conference championship and it probably doesn't change much should you have a let down and lose that game and have to win 3 in a row. The portal has leveled the playing field but has anyone won it all without also developing talented players they recruited from high school? The formula is the same...be 3 deep on both sides of the ball and get production out of the 3 stars you develop. The portal goes both ways and is open to everyone...
