Saying Boom won't have much to work with next year is wrong.

We will have the best front 7 we have had since 2010 when we led the league in rush defense.

Our secondary is questionable, but our front 7 won't be.

Now in 2015 our dline is in serious trouble if we don't add to it this recruiting cycle.

To be honest, I was thinking of a thread where an Auburn fan mentioned that you had no 5* players on your starting defense, along with 7 4*, 3 3* and a 2* player. I defer to you being more familiar than I in regards to the defensive talent he is inheriting.

I think Alabama fans have talked more about the hire than Auburn has. Talk about obsession

In my opinion, one of the the main problems with our defenses is that they have been soft. As Kobe would say "soft as Charmin." A lot of that stems from Malzahn not letting the 1's go against the 1's which we have been told will change with this hire. what you said earlier "we'll see" is dead on and the attitude that I have. Though I am extremely pumped for the hire

It's that basis, prior to him coming to Auburn, that makes me wonder if it has nothing to do with who the DC is, but rather the philosophy present.

That was an issue - particularly dealing with practices - but apparently Gus has agreed to give a little bit in that regard.

If Bama fans are truly not worried about Muschamp they would not be starting all these fcking threads

Kris Frost and Montravius Adams are the two, if I remember correctly.

ETA: And yeah, like AMM said, add Lawson and Williams in this year.

Meh. It's interesting, and pretty much the ONLY thing going on around here until the bowls start.

I mean, I GUESS we could talk about basketball, but do Auburn fans really want us going there?

Saban has one loss against a Muschamp coached defense, that coming in his first year at Alabama.... Muschamp is a defensive savant

That's what I thought, but didn't know for certain if there was some attrition I wasn't aware of. That's pretty stout among the starters, so perhaps depth is an issue?

What's interesting is that the only 3* on our starting defense for next year was named all-SEC

It is amazing how much the Bama fans have melted over an IB win. Keep making the threads about Auburns Gumps. Nothing but comedy.

If so, and with the 1s vs 1s, it will be interesting to see how that plays out. It certainly will help the defensive players against the speed, though Gus' offensive philosophy is presently very unique (yes, the HUNH is getting fairly common, but the read option is not). Will he be trying an offense a bit closer, at least in philosophy, to other offenses run in the SEC?

It's an interesting time in the SEC. Considering the level of coaching and player talent, the state of Alabama may end up keeping the crystal trophy for a few more years again. At least until all the coordinators end up at HC jobs (so maybe it worked out well we got Kiffin and Muschamp after failed attempts at HC jobs, meaning we'll get them a bit longer than otherwise).

Well with our next two QBS (Johnson and White), I don't think we'll run as much read option. Both can run a little bit, but are much more polished passers than Marshall

That's what I was leaning towards (at least with Johnson, who looked crisp as a passing QB this year). I am equal parts hopeful (you're finally running something we might see) and troubled (that is some serious talent at QB) for the next few years against your offense.

Marshall was great for you guys, and I hope he gets a shot at doing something in the NFL (I hear possibly DB?), but clearly he was more of a stop-gap in preparation for a better passer.
