He believes in shooting 3's or driving to goal for easy two pointers or getting fouled. Bama did a great job of avoiding offensive charges in this style of play.

But against a team like UCLA or had they made it against Michigan, you have to adjust that thinking even slightly would have been enough to beat UCLA even with a poor shooting performance from 3 and missing all those free throws. The mid range game should have been in play and I think that would have been the difference. How many times late and in OT did driving and either getting fouled or blocked didn't work. Had they stopped and shot a little floater or short jump shot just a handful of times would have won you the game because they are still high percentage shots but UCLA knew their game and adjusted for it around the rim.

Oats style works only if you hit a respectable amount of threes.

Or we could have made 55% of our free throws

Make a few free throws and we're good.

It’s not ‘Oats style’. It’s the style of several coaches. He plays percentages. Nothing wrong with that.

You can’t get your guys in a pregame meeting and just say, “hey, I know we normally don’t do this, but tonight let’s toss up some floaters and 16 footers.”

I will add that I do wish we'd implement the jump stop, floater game into our system. Guys are already backpedaling trying to decide whether to guard the ball or the next pass, they have almost no shot to slam on the brakes with the offensive player at 4-5 pt and defend a short floater/extended layup.

No thanks on the mid range jumpers, though.

Got to get better when shooting free throws. The better teams already do just that.

It’s not a terrible philosophy if you make your Free throws
They went 10/10 the game before
They sucked last night from the line

MAKE FREE THROWS. Do that and Bama wins. I did disagree with having the ball in Herb's hands instead of Quinerly's late, the same thing was done at Missouri and the end result was the same.

This team was too inconsistent offensively. I believe next year has a chance to be better with what comes back and some incoming post help. A very experienced backcourt with solid wing play and when the young players have time to develop by midseason this team has a chance to be one nobody wants to play.

Alabama went 6-4 this season in their lowest number of 3 pointers made.

ETA- also 6-4 if you go by their 10 poorest 3 point shooting games by percentage this year.

It is a great strategy for the SEC season when the refs call touch fouls. If last night had been an SEC game instead of the NCAA tournament, they would have shot 50 free throws. In the tournament where they let you play and allow crazy contact inside, it’s a recipe for an early out if you don’t shoot 80% or better at the line.

He is a shite coach who fell into great setup thanks to Avery. That was obvious from the start imho.

With that said, he will likely overachieve at A1abana (a tourney appearance every 2-3 years) with his own players - but Tide fans are delusional if they expect anything more.

Everyone is a better coach than the guys getting paid millions to do it after a team loses.

Oh yeahhhh - your elite ex math teacher clearly knew what he was doing as Cronin coached circles around him

Loser Nate needs to go back to pre-algebra! easiest path to the Elite 8 in NCAAT history and he can’t get it done! Oof.
