It is time to say it: Ole Miss deserves the NY6 bid over Mizzou and Penn State

Ole Miss played the fifth hardest schedule in the country and finished 10-2. The fact that they may be denied a NY6 game is absurd.

Missouri played Georgia closer, sure. And they deserve the bid over Penn State, but next year, this discussion is going to be who deserves to be in the playoff, and the answer is Ole Miss.

The integrity of our sport is at stake. If we are going to a 12 team playoff, we need to reward the 11 best teams + best G5 champ. No way that does not include Ole Miss this year. The argument should be Missouri vs. Penn State for the last spot.

Agree - head to head comparison vs UGA.

You can thank Auburn for Ole Miss being denied a NY6 bowl in favor of Mizzou.

They both might’ve had one if not for 4th and 31.

Using stats there is no argument. People put too much on 1 game.

Losing in Tuscaloosa and in Athens and beating everyone else doesn't get you a NY6 bowl? System is messed up.

Ole Miss's best win is a last second victory over LSU, in a game where they gave up half a hundred points.

Next best win is over Tulane (who doesn't have a single good win), or maybe a 3 point victory over 7-5 A&M. They played 3 good teams, and went 1-2 with both losses being non-competitive.

Mizzou beat Kansas State, Kentucky (meh), and pummeled TN. Yes, they lost to LSU (that is the ONLY metric that favors OM over Mizzou, and that is the Ole Miss super bowl while it's just another game to Mizzou, so I wouldn't give it much weight) and Georgia, but BOTH of their losses were competitive.

So, Mizzou has better wins AND better losses. I fail to see how you got to your conclusion. If anything, the argument next year would be whether BOTH deserved a spot in the 12 team playoff, or if it was just Missouri. I could see it either way, but I see ZERO scenarios where Ole Miss would get in and Mizzou would be left out.

edit: Fixed my brain farts on LSU.

Why compare a game where both teams lost when you can compare a common opponent where one team couldn’t win at home and the other team did.

Mizzou lost at home to a 3 loss LSU team. Ole Miss won.

So, in your mind, I guess NM State is a better team than Alabama because NM State beat Auburn by more than Alabama did?

I think it should be decided by which team has won their division more…

The irony in Tulane getting a NY6 and Ole Miss not is just great.

It's also the only metric that matters. After Championships and head-to-head the next is common opponents. We were 3-1, they're 2-2. Discussion over.
