It is so obvious that DeBoer was Alabama's first choice.

The more I read from the Bammer fans on this board. The more I am convinced Saban was forced out to make sure DeBoer was hired.

They have convinced me that Alabama recognized pure football genius, and knew if they didn't force Saban out now, they may never hire him.

Now that this football wizard of the northwest has been hired. I honestly don't see why we're going to play next season. The rest of the SEC does not stand a chance against this Football Jesus.

He has appeared out of the woods of the Pacific Northwest like Sasquatch. We should all be amazed and in awe of this fantastic, never before seen specimen.

Anyone can see that the media obviously lied about other candidates being offered or even under consideration.

I just hope the Walmarts of Alabama are stocked up on hats and t-shirts.

Nice melt. I guess 17 or whatever it is straight losses to your rival will do this to a man. How much worse will it get for the UTk fans?

From AD Greg Byrnes's statement at the presser about contact Thursday morning with coach DeBoer, given coach Saban's announcement Wednesday late afternoon, He no doubt was.

The rest of your conspiracy is pure Walt Disney.

Well obviously if your athletic director says he was the first one called, that is etched in stone as the gospel truth.

Walt Disney must have had a hand in hiring your new coach. You Bammers are sprinkling fairy dust all over this forum hoping some of it sticks.

It's okay to admit it. You only offered those other four coaches before DeBoer, as a cover for the genius hire that Alabama has made. You simply wanted to catch the rest of us by surprise.

I’m sure Lanning was the first call. He would have been preferred because he coached in the conference and he was at Alabama for a hot second. Once the AD seen that it was gonna cost a fortune to get Lanning out of Oregon everyone at Bama moved on. Norvell May have been contacted to gauge his interest but I don’t think he was ever a serious candidate. Kirby and Sark I’m sure was asked to make them say no at least but I don’t think anyone at Bama ever thought either one of those guys would take the job. That brings us to Deboer. I think he was always the serious target. It didn’t take Bama long to zero in on him and get his signature on the dotted line. Alabama did have interest in other people but I don’t think they seriously had a shot at landing any one of the guys I just named. Deboer was the serious target and it didn’t hurt that he has 2 wins a piece against 2 of the guys I just named.

BAMA fans are excited about getting who we wanted. A quick trip to VolNation would indicate many a Tenn fan is more than concerned. Business as usual.

The leaked audio of DeBoer telling the players goodbye indicates he wasn't Alabama's first choice. Unless he's flat out lying about the timing of it.

Crybaby Karen will do just fine.

Alabama's streak of making a bowl will be safe for the near future.

We want Norvel! Wait, no we want Lane! Wait, no we want Lanning! Wait, no we want Harbaugh! Wait, no we want Kirby! Wait, no we want...

We want Dubose! Or whatever his name is. He's our first choice!

Wonder who tenner would hire if their coach retired in Jan, and how long would the coaching search take?

Lsu?
Uga?
Barn?

It took BAMA less than 48 hours to sign the guy who coached in the national title game.

Oh right, Heupel turned you down, too.

I forgot about that.

So many ambiguous words these guys use. They talk to agents, get parameters, then make an offer to the agent. They interview over Zoom. They make a decision.

THEN the AD Calls the coach. And guess what? That coach is the first one he called (directly) because the rest of them have been calling into Zoom calls. Oh, and since they agreed already, this is the first guy “offered”.

Nothing new. Not limited to Bama, LSU, NSU, Walmart, Kroger, or anyone else lately. They try to play every hire as the only one they ever wanted, by using words that sound one way, but are kinda deceptive.

Would be nice to hear an AD say “he was the 8th coach we called, and the 4th one we presented a contract to, but the first one to accept let our lowball offer.”
