Bulldog Website

Sorry if this is already posted, but it's being reported on the Official MSU Athletic website.

My prayers go out to Nick and his family. May God rest his soul.

As a 37-yo redhead with fair skin, I have gotten sunburned all of my life in spite of warnings about getting skin cancer. Earlier this year, a friend of mine lost his battle with melanoma at the age of 35. Now I read that Mr. Bell had skin cancer as well at the age of 20. People please protect yourself, and especially your young ones, from the harmful effects of the sun whenever possible.

RIP Nick Bell and my condolences to his family and the Bulldog family.

How can you be playing Div 1 football and pass away 6 weeks later from a disease? That's so scary how fast it can happen. RIP again Nick.

If true, he's in a better place. Prayers for his family.

Agreed. It's just awful that anyone his age should have had to deal with such an awful thing. It's unfair, really...

At least he's no longer suffering.

RIP, Nick...

It really is Heart warming to see how people from every team come together on this board when sad events like this happen no matter how much we may tease each other or make fun. Its good to be part of such a classy community.

“This is a tragedy for Nick’s family, our football program, our community and everyone who had the privilege to meet and be around Nick Bell. Nick was a son and a brother to our football family and I know he will continue to look over us from heaven. Nick lived his life like a champion and will always be remembered in our hearts that way.”

Bham News Article

quote:

The news of Bell's declining health spread throughout football. NFL player Kerry Rhodes, a graduate of Jess Lanier, tweeted today that he would play in honor of Bell, whom Rhodes said "meant a lot to my brother and I'll remember that."

About 50 members of the Mississippi State football team visited Bell on Monday evening. Alabama defensive end Marcell Dareus, a friend of Bell's from Birmingham, also came. Auburn linebacker LaDarius Owens, also a friend of Bell's, was on his way home today to Birmingham.

Yeah man, football's just a game and we enjoy messing with each other, but when shite like this happens, it really hits you hard. Especially when you think about how young the guy was. It sucks when ANYONE goes through this, no matter the age, but it's tougher when they're so young.
