And Butch is still the coach.

I thought it was a done deal that you guys would rid with him immediately folllowing the Bama game.

Tennessee just cannot afford the ridiculous buyout. End of story.

Bret Bielema is still a head coach, too.

What will it takes for these people to get fired?

Lol his buyout is like half of McElwain's and VOLS are currently rolling in the dough like Scrooge McDuck.

Firing Butch now does more harm than good. Tennessee is better off firing him at the end of the season. It saves them money and it prevents a recruiting Exodus.

The next hire is more important than the fire.

While waiting is hard on me and other Vol fans, fricking up the next hire would be 100x worse

My guy in their athletic department says Gene Chizik is at the top of the list. The AD wants a college coach that has won a NC. Fulmer has checked off on the deal. Chiz is very interested and the deal is all but done except for the signatures

Why do you want TN to fire such a fine coach?

I mean, LSU fans thought ridding of Miles early would get them Herman. How did that work out for them?

Butch will not be the coach next season. UT is likely already talking to coaches. At least they should be.

Exactly. LSU got a head start to last year's coaching sweepstakes and they ended up settling with Yaw Yaw.

And just because Tennessee should wait doesn't necessarily mean they shouldn't "shop" around. If the Tennessee AD is any good, he should already be feeling the waters through back channels.

Very possible that the players have already been informed that he's gone. Rumblings tonight

For Tennessee's sake, I hope that's not the case. An interim coach doesn't do recruiting any good and players will do dumb shite that gets them in trouble because their coach will be "Interim".

The players have zero respect for Lyle as it is. Hoke would do fine as interim. To be clear, I don't think Currie pulls the trigger unless he already has a fish on the line.
