They need to get Steve Sarkesian or bo pelini and they'd be a helluva lot better off than they are with butch.

You have more faith in the UT administration than I do. If he went 8-4 this season, with a loss to Vanderbilt included, I'd still expect him to be back in '18.

I do not see Currie being that loyal to Butch if he's 8-4 with a loss to Vanderbilt. Currie didn't hire him and I don't see why he wouldn't want to get his own guy, especially with VOLS rolling in the cash now.

Nope. Just look at the responses. If this were Bama we would be screaming from the rooftops that he should be fired but Tennessee fans won't do that. They talk about not having faith in their administration to do the right thing and assume they won't when they as money spending fans should demand more than mediocrity. At Bama or Auburn he would be like a kid on the back of a milk carton. He would be gone.

Rex Ryan, will be a candidate that gets brought up a lot when we start losing games this year.

Most VOL fans are already done with him. Personally I think the expectation should be 10 regular season wins this year.

Lyle with 10 regular season wins? Sometimes I say crazy things.

I disagree with the other posters about Curry though. I think Lyle has been put on notice. No raise or extension this year, and he has already fired the tennis coach and the baseball coach. I know next to nothing about baseball, but from what I understand Curry made a great hire.

If y'all went 6-6 do you think he would still be around? I don't think y'all will have that little amount of wins; just for sake of argument.

6-6 could possibly get him fired depending on who the wins/losses are against. 5-7 and he's gone.

have always admired the quick trigger finger both the schools in alabama have. LSU should have had this mentality with miles after the 2015 season. instead they let him stick around and wasted the 2016 season.

I hope Kirby Smart does a great job for us, but if he's not made it to the SECCG by his third year, he will need to go. Butch came in to a much less stocked team than Smart, but after 5 years you gotta start asking yourself the hard questions. You know?
if bert wins 6-7 this year i will be about done. We dont have expectations higher than that (officially)this season, but, this should be a 8-10 win team. It's year 5.

I cannot see us keeping him after a 6-6 season. I think that would turn even the most die-hard Lyle fans against him.

UT had 2 coaches (Majors and Fulmer) from 1977 to 2008. they never had to deal with hiring/firing a coach in the modern football landscape. The first 2 hires (Kiffin and Dooley) were disasters and contributed to the worst period of football in UT history. CBJ is just now bringing the program back to stable position. BUt the administration is somewhat snakebit in terms of coaching hires.

I do like what i'm hearing about Currie ITT though, hopingw e have a new coach soon.

Yes it seems that way. Currie has made more than a few comments that should have Lyle squirming.

Iirc, Butch recently fired his longtime agent and hired Sexton, so it sounds like he's already planning ahead.

I remember listening to that Vandy postgame stream last year everyone here was listening to for the melt and I was sure that was the end of Jones. To say there are a lot of Vol fans pissed is putting it mildly.

That's pretty harsh, might as well fire him now!

Not really harsh. If he went 10-2 and 9-3 then sure but the east is crap and there isn't an excuse to lose it if your UGA. That's why we hired smart in the first place.

Considering the length of time Sgt. Carter has been there and it's another re-building year.. a bad season and he's gone. You can only live in the desert as Life Champions for so long.

It's a make or break year for make or break threads about Butch, for sure.

I hope not. I hope they win just enough games over the next 10 years that they can't fire Lyle.

Kirby has really beaten down Georgia fans if you are happy with a 2-2 record against Lyle.

G2ORGIA .

Sadly I agree with this. Our fan base is the dumbest in the country. They are mostly comprised of pussies, who are not winners and will argue to their dying breath that we should back the head coach. I've dealt with these imbeciles for the last 10 yrs and most of them have never played sports or have never been winners in real life.
