I'm not knocking UGA, I just think you are underestimating how putrid UT is and even though MSU felt like a big game they've been exposed badly as well. They barely won against the one decent team they played and even that team was 4-8 last year.

I get what you're saying, I do. And if I was a rival fan I'd see it through that same lens. But you've gotta realize that UGA teams over the past 4 or 5 years have played putrid to average teams as well and gone deep into the 4th, whereas this team is pummeling people for entire games. We are also fielding what could statistically be on pace for our best defense in history. Of course it's too early to write the book on 2017 UGA yet, the hardest team(s) on our schedule are still yet to come, but you've gotta admit this team just looks and feels different than former ones.

And as an aside, I think it's time to retire the whole "notre dame was 4-8 last year" shtick. This isn't 2016 anymore, it's 2017. This ND team has been on cruise control on offense and have beaten everyone they've played (including on the road against current media darling MSU) other than us. If you take away their lone loss to us and they could be ranked around 10th. That win is one of the better OOC wins all season in the SEC.

None of the Uga fans can answer this. They can't remember what that looks like.

The defense wouldn't have been in position to seal the deal if we didn't have the lead.

The defense won us field position. Forced a 3 and out in under 30 seconds. Forced a sack fumble on the Notre Dame 36 yardline with over a minute left in the game (as if we couldn't have gotten a field goal in the last minute?)

If you are calling me ignorant, name calling is always the white flag on a lost argument.

Fromm is a good quarterback. He will be afforded opportunities to be great. But that Notre Dame game and drive was not great for Fromm.

I mean, they've played 6 games. Thus, I would say that the jury is still out.

The 2007 team that steamrolled everyone starting in mid October was probably better. They just had a really bad loss to South Carolina early

The worse loss that year was to UT in Knoxville. Sure, USC was not a great team to lose to but, good god we didn’t even get off the bus at Neyland. 28-0 at half.

I don't mean to discount the ND win, it was a good win. However, I don't think even a UGA homer would make the case ND is some powerhouse this year and UGA was losing that game deep into the 4th quarter.

UT and MSU are AWFUL.

UGA is a fine football team, I think the second best in the SEC right now but look at the title of the OP. The best UGA team of all time? Come on

I mean obviously there's a lot of wood to chop, but they've started well enough that they could eventually get there.

Notre dame needed a score to beat uga because our offense took the lead from them. We essentially lose without that drive. Downplaying that is ignorance. I never called you a name. Pathetic that you went there.

And there isn't a single UGA fan here or IRL that has said we are. If you blame the premise then blame OP (who isn't a UGA fan).

With that said, there's nothing to think that at the END of the season this team could potentially be in that discussion. I mean up to this point there really isn't a single thing you could hope for better as a UGA fan in that regard, aside from blowing out ND instead of it being close and getting more eye-popping stats from QB.

If we go through the regular season undefeated (big if) I don't see why this team wouldn't be in the discussion. And I don't think losing to bama necessarily excludes them from teh discussion either, considering the other group of "best uga teams ever" (42, 80, 82, 02, 07, 12, etc) likely never played against any opponent better than this year's bama team.

IMO, teams before like 1990 or so aren't really even comparable. There is just a huge difference in overall team size and speed between then and now.

I definitely agree they're hard to compare, but still those teams were competing against their peers not the 2000s version of teams. Our '42 team would get shellacked by most upper level GA High schools these days, but they still accomplished waht they did.

I'm not dismissing their accomplishments by any means, but if we're talking "best UGA team," it has to be acknowledged.

"Greatest UGA team" would be a different discussion.

LOL

I will continue to look for that drive on Fromm's growing highlight reel (It won't show up on Blankenships highlight reel either fwiw. Jump balls at the 20 yard line wont show up on Wimm's highlight reel either. I promise you that it shows up on Davin Bellamy's highlight reel. Maybe Lorenzo Carter's too. Definitely a season long highlight reel for the defense).

I have a different expectation for great moments than you do. As I predicted originally, we are miles apart. HA

QB play has been phenominal too

WTF are you basing this on?

UGA is dead last in passing yards vs FBS opponents in the SEC. 4 picks in just 92 attempts. Statistically Alabama, which everyone says can't pass, is better in every conceivable metric than UGA's passing game.

Their O is elite, but it has everything to do with the RBs, not their QB play.

Wrong. The final 2 plays sportscenter showed for the game:

1. The 30 yard pass to wims with pressure headed his way
2. The sack strip that sealed the deal

Probably basing it on Jake Fromm being #2 in the conference and #12 nationally in QB efficiency.

Are you trolling or did you seriously not know this?

Good coaching runs the football when you are up by 2-4 scores.

Bwahahahahahahaha.

I wonder if you will be able to Google that sportscenter 6 months from now when you want to prove that it makes Fromm's highlight reel.
